Nigeria at 66: Prince Olatunji Olusoji Calls for Renewed Patriotism, Unity and Collective Responsibility

As Nigeria marks its 66th Independence Anniversary, Prince Olatunji Olusoji has called on Nigerians to renew their commitment to national unity, patriotism and the collective responsibility of building a stronger and more prosperous country.

In a goodwill message to mark the anniversary, Prince Olatunji congratulated President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Usman Ahmed Ododo of Kogi State, while commending Nigerians for their resilience, sacrifices and enduring faith in the Nigerian project.

He described Independence Day as an important moment for reflection on the nation’s journey since independence, noting that the occasion provides an opportunity for citizens to appreciate the progress made while recognising the work that remains in building a country where every Nigerian can live with dignity and hope.

According to him, Nigeria’s diversity remains one of its greatest strengths, stressing the need for citizens to continue to promote peace, tolerance, justice and mutual respect irrespective of ethnic, religious or political differences.

Prince Olatunji said the responsibility of nation-building should not be left to government alone, urging citizens, political leaders, business owners, professionals, traditional institutions and young Nigerians to contribute meaningfully to the development of the country.

He particularly emphasised the importance of investing in young people through quality education, skills development, entrepreneurship and opportunities for meaningful participation in national development.

He said, “Our independence is not only a celebration of our past; it is also a reminder of the responsibility we carry towards the future. The Nigeria we desire will be built through integrity, hard work, responsible leadership and the willingness of every citizen to play his or her part.”

The philanthropist and public-sector professional also urged Nigerians to remain hopeful and committed to the country’s development, noting that sustainable progress requires patience, sacrifice, innovation and a shared sense of purpose.

Prince Olatunji congratulated President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on the occasion of the nation’s 66th Independence Anniversary and acknowledged the efforts of governments at all levels towards addressing the country’s developmental challenges.

He also extended his congratulations to the Governor of Kogi State, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, and the people of the state, urging them to continue to support initiatives that promote development, peace and economic opportunities for the people.

He called on Nigerians, particularly the youth, to see themselves not merely as leaders of tomorrow but as important stakeholders in the Nigeria of today.

“As we celebrate 66 years of independence, let us renew our faith in Nigeria and strengthen our commitment to a nation where hard work is rewarded, opportunities are accessible, justice is respected and every citizen has a sense of belonging.

“May our diversity continue to be a source of strength, and may our collective efforts bring about the peaceful, prosperous and united Nigeria that we all desire.

“Happy Independence Day to all Nigerians. May God continue to bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria and its people.”
