Nigeria @66: David Mark Urges Nigerians to Renew Faith in Nation, Commends Tinubu, Ododo

As Nigeria marks its 66th Independence Anniversary, the Kogi State Coordinator of the PBAT Door-to-Door Movement, Hon. David Mark, has congratulated Nigerians at home and abroad, calling for renewed patriotism, unity and collective commitment to the peace and development of the country.

In a goodwill message to commemorate the anniversary, Hon. Mark described October 1 as a significant moment for Nigerians to reflect on the nation’s journey since independence in 1960, honour the sacrifices of the country’s founding fathers and recommit themselves to building a stronger and more prosperous Nigeria.

He congratulated President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, on the occasion, while acknowledging the Federal Government’s efforts towards addressing the country’s economic and developmental challenges under the Renewed Hope Agenda. The Federal Government has designated October 1, 2026 as a public holiday to mark Nigeria’s 66th Independence Anniversary.

According to him, the task of nation-building requires patience, sacrifice and the participation of every Nigerian, regardless of political, ethnic, religious or geographical differences.

“Independence Day is not only a day for celebration; it is also a day for sober reflection. It reminds us of the sacrifices of those who fought for our freedom and the responsibility we have today to preserve and strengthen the Nigeria they handed over to us.

“As Nigerians, we must continue to believe in our country, support peaceful coexistence and contribute our individual quota to national development. Our diversity should remain a source of strength rather than division.”

Hon. Mark also extended his warm congratulations to Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo on the occasion of the anniversary, noting that the progress and stability of Kogi State remain important to the overall development of Nigeria.

He urged the people of Kogi State to continue to support initiatives aimed at improving infrastructure, strengthening security, creating opportunities for young people and improving the welfare of citizens.

The Kogi State Government identifies infrastructure, healthcare, education, agriculture, human capital development, security, tourism and investment as among the areas of focus of the Ododo administration.

The PBAT Door-to-Door Movement coordinator further called on Nigerians, particularly young people, to remain hopeful about the future and participate actively in the development of their communities.

He said the celebration should inspire citizens to place the interest of Nigeria above personal and sectional considerations, adding that sustainable development could only be achieved through unity, responsible citizenship and respect for democratic institutions.

“Nigeria belongs to all of us. The responsibility of building the country we desire cannot be left to government alone. Every citizen has a role to play, whether as a public servant, business owner, farmer, professional, student, community leader or young entrepreneur.

“Let us continue to promote peace, unity, hard work and patriotism. Let us give our country the commitment it deserves and remain confident that, with collective determination, Nigeria can attain its full potential.”

Hon. Mark prayed for continued wisdom and strength for President Tinubu, Governor Ododo and other leaders at all levels of government as they discharge their responsibilities to the people.

He also prayed for peace, prosperity and greater opportunities for Nigerians, urging citizens to celebrate the anniversary with a renewed sense of responsibility and hope for the future.

“On behalf of myself and the entire PBAT Door-to-Door Movement in Kogi State, I wish President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo and all Nigerians a happy 66th Independence Anniversary. May God continue to bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria and Kogi State.”
