Local Government Areas

Kogi State is administratively divided into 21 Local Government Areas (LGAs), which serve as the grassroots units of governance. These include:
Adavi, Ajaokuta, Ankpa, Bassa, Dekina, Ibaji, Idah, Igalamela-Odolu, Ijumu, Kabba-Bunu, Kogi (Koton-Karfe), Lokoja, Mopamuro, Ofu, Ogori-Magongo, Okehi, Okene, Olamaboro, Omala, Yagba East, and Yagba West.


Politically, the state is divided into three senatorial districts:


Kogi East
Kogi Central
Kogi West

It also consists of nine Federal Constituencies viz Okene/Ogori-Magongo; Ajaokuta; Okehi/Adavi; Kabba-bunu/Ijumu; Yagba; Lokoja/Koton-karfi; Idah/Igalamela/Ofu; Dekina/Bassa and Ankpa/Omala/Olamaboro.


These districts and federal constituencies are represented in Nigeria’s National Assembly.
