Kogi West APC Stakeholders Raise Alarm Over Alleged Forged Senatorial Primary Result, Demand Probe
APC stakeholders in Kogi West have alleged forgery in the party’s senatorial primary result, demanding investigation, disciplinary action, and reaffirmation of Senator Sunday Karimi’s victory ahead of the 2027 elections.
Fresh controversy has emerged within the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kogi West Senatorial District following allegations of forgery surrounding the outcome of the party’s senatorial primary election conducted on May 18, 2026.
A coalition of APC stakeholders and supporters from the district has accused unnamed political actors of circulating what they described as a fake result sheet allegedly intended to alter the outcome of the exercise in which Senator Sunday Karimi was declared winner.
Addressing journalists during a press briefing in Kabba, the spokesperson of the group, Stanley Ajileye, said the development poses a serious threat to internal democracy and the credibility of the party’s primary election process.
According to the group, the senatorial primary was conducted in line with the party’s guidelines and monitored by relevant party officials, producing Senator Karimi as the authentic winner of the contest.
The stakeholders maintained that all aspirants had initially embraced the spirit of unity and reconciliation after the exercise until the alleged forged result surfaced within political circles.
Ajileye alleged that preliminary findings and consultations within the party pointed to the involvement of certain influential elements within the APC structure in Kogi State, though no specific names were mentioned during the briefing.
He warned that failure to address the matter decisively could create dangerous precedents capable of undermining confidence in future party primaries.
“This issue goes beyond one individual or one election. It is about protecting the sanctity of democratic processes within our party. If fabricated results are allowed to stand or circulate without consequences, then the integrity of future primaries will be seriously threatened,” the group stated.
The stakeholders called on the National Working Committee (NWC) of the APC to immediately reaffirm what they described as the authentic result of the primary election and commence a full-scale investigation into the alleged forgery.
They also demanded disciplinary measures against any party member found culpable in the matter.
Among the demands presented by the group were the public reaffirmation of Senator Sunday Karimi’s victory, an independent probe into the alleged forged document, sanctions against those responsible, and stronger mechanisms to safeguard the credibility of future APC primaries.
Despite the allegations, the stakeholders insisted that their position should not be interpreted as an attack on either the Kogi State Government or the leadership of the ruling party.
They reaffirmed their loyalty to the APC and expressed support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, while maintaining that justice and transparency must prevail within the party.
“We remain committed members of the APC, but loyalty should not prevent members from speaking against actions capable of damaging the integrity of the party,” the statement added.
The group also appealed to party supporters across Kogi West to remain calm, peaceful, and law-abiding while the leadership of the party addresses the matter.
As of the time of filing this report, neither the Kogi State chapter of the APC nor the party’s national secretariat had issued an official response to the allegations.
The development comes amid heightened political activities ahead of the 2027 general elections, with Kogi West emerging as one of the major political flashpoints within the state.
