Leke Abejide Foundation Disburses Over ₦150 Million for 2026 WAEC Fees of Private School Students in Yagba, Kabba/Bunu–Ijumu Constituency

The Leke Abejide Foundation has disbursed more than ₦150 million for the payment of 2026 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) registration fees and administrative charges for students in private secondary schools across Yagba, Kabba/Bunu and Ijumu Federal Constituency in Kogi State.
The intervention, which targets all eligible students in private schools across the constituency, is part of the foundation’s long-standing commitment to supporting education and ensuring that financial constraints do not prevent students from sitting for the crucial examination conducted by the .
Founded in 2010, the foundation has implemented a range of programmes aimed at supporting vulnerable members of society, including widows, youths and students, through education, empowerment and social intervention initiatives.
Speaking on the development, the Director-General of the foundation, Ayobami Dada said the initiative was designed to promote equal access to education and eliminate the financial barriers associated with WAEC registration.
According to him, the intervention reflects the sustained commitment of the founder, Rep. Leke Abejide, to youth empowerment and educational advancement across the constituency.
“This initiative forms part of the foundation’s broader mission to support young people in their academic pursuits and create equal opportunities for all, especially those whose ambitions are often constrained by financial hardship,” Dada said.
He explained that the foundation has consistently funded WAEC registration and other human development programmes for more than a decade, noting that the initiative is aimed at giving students a fair opportunity to pursue higher education and compete favourably with their peers nationwide.
Dada added that the programme is inclusive, covering all eligible students in private schools across Yagba, Kabba/Bunu and Ijumu, regardless of their family background or social status.
According to him, the foundation remains driven by the belief that education is the most sustainable pathway to breaking the cycle of poverty and promoting long-term national development.
Parents of the beneficiaries commended the initiative, describing it as a timely intervention that has significantly eased the financial burden on families.
They noted that by covering the WAEC registration fees annually, the foundation has helped ensure equitable access to education for students across different socio-economic backgrounds.
Some of the students who benefited from the programme also expressed gratitude to the foundation, pledging to remain dedicated to their studies and justify the investment made in their education.
The disbursement process was supervised by the Director-General of the foundation, Engr. Ayobami Dada, alongside the Secretary of the foundation, , who presented the payment drafts to the benefiting schools for completion of the necessary administrative procedures.
The annual intervention has become a major educational support initiative within the constituency, with stakeholders describing it as a significant contribution to human capital development and youth empowerment in the region.
