The De-Lion Defender Security Outfit, popularly known as the Lion Squad, has arrested a couple allegedly involved in the attempted murder of a commercial motorcyclist before making away with his motorcycle in Yagba Federal Constituency of Kogi State.
The suspects, identified as Mr. Rotimi Oke and his wife, Mrs. Funmilayo Oke, were subsequently handed over to the Nigeria Police Force at Ife-Olukotun for further investigation and possible prosecution.
According to information made available, the incident occurred along the Ohun Road when the victim, Mr. Sunday Opeyemi, a native of Jege residing in Ife-Olukotun, reportedly offered assistance to the couple after they allegedly presented themselves as stranded travellers.
The suspects, who are said to be natives of Ife-Olukotun but resident in Ekinrin-Adde, allegedly convinced Opeyemi to convey them on his motorcycle. However, after travelling some distance, they reportedly attacked him with a dagger, leaving him with severe injuries before fleeing with his motorcycle.
The victim was said to have been rescued by a passer-by, who rushed him to a medical facility where he received treatment. After recovering, Opeyemi reportedly narrated the incident and identified the alleged attackers.
Following the report, the Lion Squad, a community-based security outfit operating in Yagba Federal Constituency, launched an intelligence-led operation to track down the suspects.
The operation culminated in the arrest of the couple at Ekinrin-Adde in Ijumu Local Government Area. They were thereafter handed over to the police in Ife-Olukotun for further investigation and other necessary legal processes.
