Ododo Mourns Terms Magazine Publisher, Jafar Maitama, Commends Support for Kogi Government

Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, has mourned the death of the Publisher of Terms Magazine, Mallam Jafar Yakubu Maitama, describing his contributions to journalism and his support for public awareness as a lasting part of his legacy.
Governor Ododo, in a condolence message issued by his Special Adviser on Media, Ismaila Isah, said the death of Maitama was a significant loss to his family, colleagues, the media profession and society at large.
The Governor described the late publisher as a dedicated media professional who remained committed to responsible journalism, public enlightenment and advocacy throughout his career.
Ododo particularly acknowledged Maitama’s efforts in promoting the activities and achievements of the Kogi State Government, despite his residence in Kaduna, saying his commitment demonstrated a strong connection to the development of his home state.
According to the Governor, Maitama also used his journalistic platform to draw attention to issues affecting ordinary people and give voice to those whose concerns might otherwise go unheard.
“Mallam Jafar Yakubu Maitama was a gentleman and a committed media professional who believed in the power of journalism to educate, inform and contribute to the development of society.
“Although he lived in Kaduna, he supported his home state by using his platform to promote the activities of the Kogi State Government. His death is a painful loss to his family, colleagues and the journalism profession,” Ododo said.
The Governor commiserated with the deceased’s family, the management and staff of Terms Magazine, the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Kaduna State Council, as well as the wider media community over the loss.
He noted that Maitama’s calm disposition, diligence and commitment to magazine journalism earned him the respect of colleagues, associates and other stakeholders within and outside the media industry.
Governor Ododo urged the family to draw strength from the positive impact the late publisher made during his lifetime, particularly through his professional service and dedication to issues of public interest.
He prayed to Almighty Allah to forgive the shortcomings of the deceased, grant him Aljannah Firdaus and give his family, friends, colleagues and associates the strength to bear the loss.
