Nigerian Army Neutralises Suspect, Arrests Logistics Couriers in Kogi Security Operation

Nigerian Army troops record success in Kogi, neutralising a suspect and arresting logistics couriers while recovering ammunition and other items.

Troops of the Nigerian Army’s 12 Brigade have recorded operational gains in Kogi State, neutralising a suspected terrorist and arresting individuals believed to be involved in logistics support for criminal elements.

According to an operational update released on Monday, the troops carried out targeted checkpoint and clearance operations in parts of Lokoja Local Government Area following credible intelligence.

During the operation along the Jamata–Owara axis, soldiers intercepted a suspect conveying supplies on a motorcycle. A search conducted on the individual led to the discovery of a specially modified fuel tank used to conceal ammunition, alongside three mobile phones and a purchase receipt.

Further intelligence gathered from the arrest reportedly guided troops to a suspected logistics exchange point. At the location, security forces engaged fleeing suspects, resulting in the neutralisation of one individual, while others escaped with injuries.

Items recovered during the operation include a motorcycle, a pump-action belt with cartridges, charms, beverages, a mobile phone, a side bag, and a sum of N20,000.

The Nigerian Army said the operation forms part of ongoing efforts to disrupt criminal networks and strengthen security across the state.
