Kogi Security Adviser Moves to Contain Omala Crisis, Strengthens Operations in Olamaboro
Kogi Security Adviser intensifies efforts to curb crisis in Omala and strengthens security operations in Olamaboro with deployment of hunters and forest security personnel.

The Zonal Security Adviser to the Kogi State Governor for the Ankpa Federal Axis, Rt. Hon. Chief Ahmed Mohammed, has stepped up efforts to address recurring security challenges in Omala Local Government Area, following directives from Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo.
During a recent visit to the area, the adviser met with key stakeholders and carried out an on-the-spot assessment of the security situation, with particular focus on clashes linked to herder-related disputes. As part of immediate measures to restore calm, he approved the deployment of more than 20 local hunters to support existing operations by the Nigeria Police Force and the Nigerian Army in protecting lives and property.
Chief Ahmed stressed the importance of stronger collaboration among security agencies, urging operatives to adopt a unified approach in tackling threats. He noted that necessary logistical support had been provided to enhance operational effectiveness and called for proactive engagement to prevent further escalation of violence.
In his remarks, the Chairman of Omala Local Government Council, Hon. Mark Edibo, raised concerns over what he described as increasing indiscipline within the Patani community, identifying it as a major contributor to the unrest in the area.
He urged residents to comply with established laws and regulations, emphasizing the need for orderliness and respect for constituted authority as essential conditions for peace. The chairman specifically cautioned inhabitants of Patani, regarded as a major flashpoint, to conduct themselves lawfully and adhere to security directives.
Also speaking, the Divisional Police Officer, Mr. David Damang, reaffirmed the commitment of the police to work closely with other security agencies to ensure sustainable peace across the affected communities.
The stakeholders’ meeting was attended by traditional rulers, community leaders from Patani, security operatives, and other key figures.
In a related move, the security adviser redeployed over 20 personnel of the Nigerian Forest Security Service to neighbouring Olamaboro Local Government Area to reinforce ongoing operations in collaboration with the police.
He charged the personnel to maintain discipline and professionalism in the discharge of their duties, warning that acts of truancy or insubordination would attract strict sanctions.
