The Senator representing Kogi Central Senatorial District, Barrister Natasha Akpoti‑Uduaghan, has implored leaders and stakeholders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to close ranks and prioritise reconciliation following the recent judgment delivered by the Court of Appeal regarding the party’s national convention.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, Akpoti‑Uduaghan said the appellate court ruling should be seized as an opportunity to **restore unity, strengthen internal democracy, and reposition the party ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The Kogi Central lawmaker expressed concern that prolonged legal battles within the PDP could undermine the aspirations of loyal party members seeking elective positions under the party’s platform. She stressed that political parties must provide a credible platform for citizens who wish to serve their communities and country through elective offices.

“The Court of Appeal has spoken, and as a democratic party that believes in the rule of law, we must now shift our focus from litigation to reconciliation and rebuilding,” Akpoti‑Uduaghan affirmed, urging leaders to prioritise unity and collective purpose.

Senator Akpoti‑Uduaghan highlighted the need for compromise and statesmanship, urging party leaders to focus on the greater good of the PDP and, by extension, the nation. She emphasised that internal disputes should not derail the hopes and aspirations of party members preparing for future elections.

She also called on stakeholders to work towards organising an inclusive and credible national convention that fully complies with guidelines set by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), insisting such a move is vital for demonstrating the party’s readiness to lead and provide competent governance.

Akpoti‑Uduaghan reaffirmed her commitment to the growth and unity of the PDP, encouraging party members across the country to remain steadfast and optimistic as the party prepares for the political challenges ahead.
