Kogi East Has Risen Again” — Mahmoud Bala Alfa Sends Strong Political Message Ahead of APC Senatorial Primary
APC senatorial aspirant, Dr. Mahmoud Bala Alfa, has reaffirmed his commitment to the APC and the future of Kogi East ahead of the party’s senatorial primary election.

Ahead of the All Progressives Congress (APC) senatorial primary election for Kogi East Senatorial District, frontline aspirant, Dr. Mahmoud Bala Alfa, has declared that the renewed political awakening and growing national attention on Kogi East mark the beginning of a new era for the region.
In a strongly worded statement released on Sunday, the APC chieftain expressed gratitude to supporters, stakeholders and party leaders across Kogi East and beyond for standing with him throughout his senatorial aspiration.
The statement, titled “Kogi East ’27: This Is Only The Beginning,” emphasized that the ongoing political movement within the district transcends individual ambition and represents a broader struggle to restore the relevance, visibility and influence of Kogi East in national politics.
According to Mahmoud Bala Alfa, the aspiration was built on the collective desire to reposition Kogi East and give the people of the district a stronger voice in national affairs.
“From the very beginning, this journey has always been about the people. It has always been about the future of Kogi East, the need to restore stronger relevance to our region, and the desire to see our people regain their rightful place in national conversations,” he stated.
The APC aspirant commended the Presidency for promoting consensus arrangements in states where agreements were reached while allowing direct primaries in areas where consensus could not be achieved.
He described the approach as a demonstration of political maturity and respect for democratic participation within the ruling party.
Mahmoud Bala Alfa also expressed confidence in the leadership of the APC in Kogi State, saying he respected whatever decision the party eventually adopts regarding the senatorial contest.
“As a loyal party man, I remain fully committed to the All Progressives Congress and to the unity and progress of our great party. At the end of this process, I will stand with and support whoever emerges as the candidate of our party,” he said.
Despite the uncertainty surrounding the outcome of the primary election, the APC aspirant insisted that his commitment to the development and future of Kogi East remains unwavering.
According to him, the political conversations generated by the 2027 senatorial race have already succeeded in drawing fresh national attention to the Igala and Bassa people after years of political silence and declining visibility.
“For the first time in a very long while, the politics and future of Kogi East have again become part of the national conversation through this 2027 senatorial race,” he stated.
He added that the renewed discussions around the district have highlighted the strength, resilience, intelligence and enormous potential of the people of Kogi East.
Mahmoud Bala Alfa further stressed that the movement for a stronger Kogi East would continue beyond the primary election, noting that sustainable development in the district requires collective contributions, fresh ideas and genuine commitment from all stakeholders.
The APC aspirant used the opportunity to appreciate several political leaders and national figures whom he said contributed to the success and visibility of his aspiration.
Among those he acknowledged were Vice President Kashim Shettima; Special Adviser to the President on Policy and Coordination and Head of the Central Results Delivery Coordination Unit (CRDCU), Hajiya Hadiza Bala Usman; former First Lady, Hajiya Aisha Buhari; former Military President, General Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida; and former Minister of Defence, General Theophilus Yakubu Danjuma and Mrs Daisy Danjuma.
He also thanked the National Chairman of the APC, Professor Nentawe Goshwe Yilwatda, alongside members of the national leadership of the party for their support and commitment to the growth of the APC.
At the state level, Mahmoud Bala Alfa appreciated Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo and former Governor Yahaya Adoza Bello for providing leadership and stability for the APC in Kogi State.
He concluded by praying for peace, unity and progress within the APC and for continued development across Kogi East Senatorial District.
