Member representing Yagba West Constituency I in the Kogi State House of Assembly, Hon. Ibikunle Simon Idowu, has clarified that he has no knowledge of, involvement in, or connection to allegations being investigated by the Department of State Services (DSS) involving his Personal Assistant, Mr. Charles Sunday.
Idowu, in a statement issued on Saturday, said he had taken note of reports concerning the arrest of his aide by the DSS in connection with an ongoing investigation reportedly linked to Ogun State.
The lawmaker stressed that he had neither authorised nor supported any of the alleged activities under investigation, adding that he had no association with them.
According to him, while Charles Sunday is employed as his Personal Assistant, his position in the lawmaker’s office should not be interpreted as evidence of the lawmaker’s knowledge, participation or responsibility for any conduct allegedly carried out outside the aide’s official duties.
“I wish to state clearly that I have no knowledge of, involvement in, or connection to the allegations currently being investigated,” Idowu said.
He maintained that he had never authorised, supported or participated in the alleged activity, insisting that the ongoing investigation should be allowed to run its course without interference.
The Yagba West lawmaker said he respected the role of the relevant authorities and would not interfere with the investigation, noting that the appropriate agencies should be given the opportunity to establish the facts surrounding the matter.
He also appealed to members of the public and the media to exercise restraint and avoid associating him or his office with allegations in which, according to him, he has no involvement.
Idowu reaffirmed his commitment to transparency, the rule of law and the responsibilities entrusted to him by the people of Yagba West Constituency I.
The statement was signed by Hon. Ibikunle Simon Idowu, Member, Kogi State House of Assembly, Yagba West Constituency, and dated September 5, 2026.
