At 85, Deaconess Comfort Ayodele Unveils Book on the Power of Words in Lokoja

Deaconess Comfort Folake Ayodele has urged individuals to be mindful of their speech, stressing that words possess the power to either build lives or destroy relationships.
She made the call during the launch of her book titled “Taming the Tongue: Biblical Insights on the Power of Words,” an event that also formed part of activities marking her 85th birthday celebration in Lokoja, Kogi State.
The event, held at the Apostolic Church, New Layout, Lokoja, attracted family members, church leaders, well-wishers and other dignitaries who gathered to celebrate the author’s milestone and the unveiling of her new publication.
Speaking at the ceremony, Deaconess Ayodele explained that the inspiration for the book came from her spiritual reflections and life experiences, noting that effective communication rooted in truth, love and self-control remains essential for building healthy relationships.
According to her, the publication serves as a practical guide for individuals seeking to align their speech with biblical teachings and honour God through their words.
She emphasised that communication plays a crucial role in family and marital relationships, adding that careful and thoughtful use of words can foster understanding, resolve conflicts and strengthen bonds among people.
A journalist and public affairs analyst, Abu Michael, who reviewed the book during the launch, described the publication as a thoughtful exploration of the influence of words in human interactions. He noted that the author relied on scriptural teachings to illustrate how speech can shape attitudes, relationships and moral conduct.
Also speaking at the event, Pastor (Dr.) O. M. Osunde highlighted the importance of discipline in speech, urging individuals to embrace truth spoken in love while relying on prayer and spiritual guidance to control their words.
In his remarks, Elder Oladipo Ayodele, the author’s son, expressed appreciation for his mother’s enduring spiritual influence, revealing that the ideas behind the book reflect over 15 years of applying biblical principles to everyday communication.
Several dignitaries also sent goodwill messages to celebrate the author’s 85th birthday and the book launch. Among them were Senator Sunday Karimi and Hon. Erick Fiki, who both congratulated Deaconess Ayodele on the milestone and commended her commitment to promoting moral values through literature.
The celebration featured the cutting of a birthday cake and testimonies from guests who described the celebrant as a devoted Christian, a mentor and a mother figure whose life has positively influenced many people.
The newly launched book, according to participants at the event, offers spiritual insights on responsible communication and encourages readers to cultivate speech that inspires, uplifts and promotes peaceful coexistence.
