Ododo Commissions Advanced Diagnostic Hospital, Inspects Korede Road Project in Kabba

Governor Ahmed Ododo commissions a state-of-the-art diagnostic hospital in Kabba-Bunu and inspects Korede Road project, boosting healthcare and infrastructure in Kogi State.

Kogi State Governor, has commissioned the Southward Hospital and Diagnostic Centre in Edumo-Bunu, Kabba/Bunu Local Government Area, describing the facility as a major milestone in strengthening healthcare delivery in the state.

The governor, who performed the inauguration on Tuesday, said the establishment of the modern diagnostic centre would significantly improve access to quality medical services, not only for residents of Kabba/Bunu but also for neighbouring communities and states.

Equipped with advanced medical technology, including CT scan, MRI, digital X-ray, ultrasound services, and a standard laboratory, the facility is expected to enhance early detection and treatment of diseases, thereby reducing the need for referrals and medical tourism.

Governor Ododo described the hospital as a “lifeline for communities,” commending its promoters for investing in critical healthcare infrastructure. He assured the management of the state government’s support in providing an enabling environment for the facility to thrive, urging residents to take full advantage of the services while ensuring its protection.

He noted that the commissioning aligns with his administration’s broader efforts to strengthen the health sector through ongoing upgrades of public hospitals and expansion of access to health insurance across the state.

Earlier, the Chief Executive Officer of the hospital, Mrs. Jumoke Bosede Omodara, said the project was conceived to complement government efforts in delivering quality healthcare services. She disclosed that construction of the hospital began in 2018 and was supported by an N800 million facility from the Bank of Industry.

According to her, the centre is designed to serve not only Kogi State but also neighbouring states such as Ondo, Ekiti, and Kwara, with a focus on improving diagnosis, treatment outcomes, and overall healthcare delivery. She appealed for government partnership and patronage, noting that the hospital would key into the Kogi State Health Insurance Scheme.

Also speaking, the State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Adeiza Abdulazeez, commended the initiative, describing it as a strategic addition to existing healthcare institutions in the state. He urged residents to make good use of the facility and support efforts aimed at sustaining it.

The Obaro of Kabba and Chairman of the Okun Traditional Council, HRM Dr. Solomon Owoniyi, lauded both the investor and the state government for promoting private sector participation in healthcare, while calling for stricter regulation to curb quack medical practices.

In a related development, Governor Ododo inspected the ongoing Korede Road project in Kabba, expressing satisfaction with the quality and pace of work.

The road project, facilitated by , representing Kabba-Bunu/Ijumu Federal Constituency, is one of four key road projects currently underway in the area.

The governor commended the federal lawmaker for his commitment to grassroots development, noting that such collaboration between federal and state actors remains crucial in accelerating infrastructural growth across communities.

Residents of the area also expressed appreciation for the projects, describing them as timely interventions that would ease movement, boost economic activities, and improve overall living conditions.

The commissioning ceremony attracted government officials, traditional rulers, and community members, many of whom praised the administration’s focus on healthcare, infrastructure, and security across the state.
