Ahead of the 2027 general election, leaders and key strategists of the Leke Abejide Support Group have held a high-level strategic meeting aimed at strengthening the group’s structure and mobilising support for the return of Hon. Leke Abejide to the House of Representatives for a third term.

The meeting brought together prominent leaders and representatives from Yagba East, Yagba West and Mopamuro, with discussions centred on strengthening the group’s campaign architecture and building a coordinated grassroots structure ahead of the 2027 electoral cycle.

The strategic session was convened to align the group’s leadership structure, synchronise campaign strategies and establish a unified operational framework for the proposed political mobilisation across Yagba Federal Constituency.

Participants described the 2027 election as an important opportunity for Yagba Federal Constituency to consolidate what they consider vibrant, accountable and result-driven representation at the National Assembly.

The group said its approach would go beyond conventional campaign activities by placing greater emphasis on direct engagement with voters and communities and ensuring that its activities reflect the aspirations and interests of the people at the grassroots.

Chief Yomi Charles, who was elected and ratified as the National Coordinator at the meeting, said the group was building more than an electoral platform, describing it as a movement anchored on development, inclusive governance and grassroots participation.

“What we are building is not merely an electoral platform; it is a popular movement for genuine development and inclusive governance,” Chief Yomi Charles declared during the meeting.

He said the group’s collective objective was to ensure the return of Hon. Abejide for a third term, stressing that unity of purpose and a well-organised grassroots structure would remain central to the movement’s activities.

“To continue to deliver real progress for our people, our agenda is that Hon. Abejide should return for a third term, as we operate in complete harmony as a group. Our strength lies in our collective structure, our shared vision, and our unwavering commitment to the grassroots,” he said.

A major focus of the meeting was the development of a coordinated operational framework capable of linking the activities of the candidate and supporters at various levels with the broader objectives of the Leke Abejide Support Group.

The meeting also considered structural arrangements for the effective administration of the group, including grassroots mobilisation, voter engagement and sustained consultations with critical stakeholders across the constituency.

The climax of the meeting was the election of the Advisory Council and other important organs to facilitate the smooth running of the group and provide direction for its activities ahead of the 2027 election.

The strategic meeting subsequently adopted a blueprint centred on effective group leadership, voters’ sensitisation, youth and women mobilisation, polling unit protection, and continuous consultation with traditional rulers and community leaders.

Among the prominent leaders present were Chief Yomi Charles Olorunshola, National Coordinator; Barr. James Fabola, Chairman, Advisory Council; Chief Eric Fiki; Chief Daniyan Folorunsho; Amb. Samuel Babatunde; Mr Bode Kayode; Otunba Olusegun Duro, Treasurer; Hon. Toba Adebayo, Secretary; Chief Omotosh Henry; Dr Femi Modehin; Chief Lukman Adebayo; Chief Babatunde Moses; Bashorun M.D. Eseyin; Hon. Segun Ashiru; Hon. Abigail Ayeni; and Hon. Jones Daniel, alongside several other leaders and stakeholders.

The group said the meeting marked another phase in its preparations to build a stronger and more coordinated support structure across the three local government areas that make up Yagba Federal Constituency.

With the 2027 elections drawing closer, the support group is expected to intensify its grassroots engagement and stakeholder consultations as it seeks to consolidate support for Hon. Leke Abejide’s third-term ambition in the House of Representatives.
