Ogori Descendants Union Pays Tribute to Late Nigeria Volleyball Federation Official Samuel Timothy
The Ogori Descendants Union has expressed deep sorrow over the death of Nigeria Volleyball Federation Technical Representative, Surveyor Samuel Timothy, praising his contributions to youth development and volleyball in Nigeria.

OGORI, KOGI STATE
The Ogori Descendants Union (ODU) has expressed profound grief over the death of Surveyor Samuel Timothy, popularly known as SAM3, who served as Technical Representative of the Nigeria Volleyball Federation.
Samuel Timothy reportedly passed away in the early hours of Sunday, April 26, leaving behind a legacy of dedication to sports development and youth empowerment.
In a condolence message signed by the President of the Ogori Descendants Union, Dr. Gabriel Osiwomekwin Aiso, the union described the late sports official as a committed advocate for volleyball development whose contributions left a lasting impact on the Ogori community and the wider sporting fraternity.
Dr. Aiso extended the union’s heartfelt condolences to the family of the deceased, the Nigeria Volleyball Federation, and the broader volleyball community, noting that the loss was deeply felt by all who knew and worked with him.
According to the statement, the late Samuel Timothy had recently visited Ogori during the Ovia Osese Volleyball Competition, where he was honoured for his remarkable contributions to the growth of volleyball and his unwavering support for youth development.
The ODU president recalled that in recognition of his efforts and commitment to the sport, the volleyball tournament was officially named after him during the finals as the SAM3 Volleyball Competition.
He said the late sports administrator’s presence at the event brought excitement and inspiration to participants and spectators, describing his passion, generosity and support for young athletes as outstanding.
“His energy, warmth, and passion were unmistakable, and the joy his participation brought to players and spectators alike is something we will not forget,” the statement read.
The union also revealed that Samuel Timothy had pledged to sponsor medals for the next edition of the competition — a gesture it described as a reflection of his commitment to excellence and investment in the future of grassroots sports.
Dr. Aiso lamented that the community was now forced to speak of the respected sports figure in the past tense, describing the development as painful and shocking.
He, however, noted that the union finds comfort in the enduring legacy left behind by the late volleyball official through the many lives he impacted during his lifetime.
“The Ogori Descendants Union stands in solidarity with his family, the Nigeria Volleyball Federation, and the entire sporting community at this difficult time. We will continue to honour his memory and uphold the values he represented,” the statement added.
The union prayed for the peaceful repose of his soul and pledged to preserve the memory of his contributions to sports and community development.
Samuel Timothy was widely respected in Nigeria’s volleyball circles for his technical expertise and commitment to nurturing young talents across the country.
His death has drawn tributes from sports stakeholders and community leaders who have described him as a passionate administrator whose service will be remembered for years to come.
