BUK Alumni President Backs PAAU’s Disciplinary Measures, Expresses Confidence in Prof. Salisu Usman Ogbo’s Leadership

The President of the Bayero University Kano (BUK) Alumni Association, Comrade Alfa Ebune, has thrown his weight behind the recent disciplinary measures introduced by the management of Prince Abubakar Audu University (PAAU), Anyigba, describing them as necessary steps towards restoring discipline, order, and academic excellence within the institution.
Comrade Ebune, who is also a youth leader and respected opinion moulder in Prince Abubakar Audu University, said the actions taken by the university administration under the leadership of the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Salisu Usman Ogbo, were timely and appropriate in addressing student misconduct and curbing activities capable of disrupting the institution’s academic environment.
According to him, students must understand that the primary purpose of higher education extends beyond academic learning to include character formation, discipline, and responsible conduct.
He noted that the antecedents of Prof. Salisu Usman Ogbo in managing student affairs and maintaining discipline during his tenure at Kogi State Polytechnic remain a reference point, stressing that the Vice Chancellor had previously demonstrated capacity in tackling student unrest, criminal activities, and other forms of indiscipline within tertiary institutions.
“Students must appreciate the fact that they are in school not only to acquire knowledge but also to be moulded in character and learning. The track record of Prof. Salisu Usman Ogbo in Kogi State Polytechnic is still fresh in the minds of many people. He successfully curbed student unrest, reduced criminality, and instituted a culture of discipline that strengthened the institution,” Ebune stated.
The alumni leader expressed confidence in the ability of Prof. Salisu Usman Ogbo to effectively steer the affairs of Prince Abubakar Audu University and sustain policies that promote peace, discipline, and academic excellence.
He also commended Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo for appointing Prof. Salisu Usman Ogbo as Vice Chancellor, describing the decision as a commendable move that has positioned the institution for greater progress.
Comrade Ebune further extended his condolences to the families of those who lost their lives during the recent student unrest, praying for the repose of the deceased and comfort for their loved ones.
He urged students, parents, and other stakeholders to support the university management’s efforts aimed at maintaining a conducive environment for teaching, learning, and research.
