Obaro Commends Gov Ododo Over Evacuation of Kogi Students from Jos Crisis

The member representing Yagba East State Constituency in the Kogi State House of Assembly, Hon. Dr. Emmanuel Obaro, has commended Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo for the swift evacuation of Kogi State students from crisis-affected areas in Jos, Plateau State.
In a statement made available to journalists, Obaro described the evacuation of nearly 700 students as a bold, timely and compassionate intervention that underscores the administration’s commitment to the safety and welfare of Kogi indigenes, particularly the youth.
He noted that the deteriorating security situation in parts of Plateau State had created anxiety among students and their families, but the prompt action taken by the Kogi State Government brought immediate relief and reassurance.
According to the lawmaker, the decision to evacuate the students was not only proactive but also reflective of purposeful leadership, adding that the move helped to safeguard lives and secure the future of affected students.
“Seven hundred students safely returned home is not just a statistic; it represents protected destinies, relieved families, and a government that truly prioritises its people,” Obaro stated.
The lawmaker further noted that Governor Ododo’s response demonstrates a governance style rooted in responsibility and responsiveness, particularly at a time when citizens expect decisive action from leadership.
Obaro also linked the evacuation to the broader youth-focused agenda of the current administration, which includes bursary support, educational interventions, and empowerment programmes aimed at strengthening human capital development in the state.
While commending the government’s efforts, he urged sustained attention to student welfare, including timely disbursement of bursary funds, noting that such support remains critical to the academic success of many indigent students.
He maintained that the governor’s actions have continued to inspire confidence among stakeholders, reinforcing public trust in the APC-led administration both at the state and grassroots levels.
The Yagba East lawmaker reaffirmed his support for the Ododo administration, describing the evacuation exercise as a clear demonstration of leadership that listens, acts, and delivers in the interest of the people.
