The Ngerian Youth Congress, Kogi State Chapter, has congratulated the organisers of the Kogi Power Rotation Summit and commended Vice-Admiral Joseph Ajayi and Major General Patrick Akpa for accepting leadership roles at the event.

LOKOJA, Kogi State
The Nigerian Youth Congress (NYC), Kogi State Chapter, has commended the organisers of the Kogi Power Rotation Summit for convening a platform to discuss unity, political inclusion, equity and shared prosperity in the state.
The youth organisation also congratulated the Kogi Unity Accord, organisers of the summit, over the selection of Vice-Admiral Joseph Ajayi (Rtd.), CON, former Chief of Defence Intelligence, as Chairman, and Major General Patrick Akpa (Rtd.) as Co-Chairman.
The summit, themed “Retooling Kogi for Unity and Shared Prosperity,” is scheduled for September 30 and October 1, 2026, at K Galaxy Event Centre, Lokoja. The organisers have described it as a non-partisan platform for stakeholders to deliberate on equity, inclusion, peaceful power-sharing and the future development of Kogi State.
In a statement dated September 29 and signed by the Chairman of the NYC Kogi State Chapter, Comr. Oloruntoba Moses Juwon, the youth body described the summit as a timely intervention capable of providing space for constructive dialogue among the diverse interests that make up the state.
The NYC said the choice of Vice-Admiral Ajayi and Major General Akpa to lead the summit was particularly significant, citing their records of military and national service as qualities that could contribute to the credibility and quality of discussions at the gathering.
According to the youth organisation, the participation of the two retired senior military officers gives the summit an opportunity to draw from their experience in leadership, strategic thinking, national service and public affairs.
Focus on unity and inclusive governance
The NYC said Kogi’s diverse ethnic and regional composition makes dialogue and mutual understanding important to the state’s political and developmental future.
It noted that the summit is expected to provide a platform where traditional rulers, religious leaders, political stakeholders, professionals, women, youths and other members of society can exchange views on issues affecting the state.
The Kogi Unity Accord has similarly stated that the summit is intended to bring stakeholders from the three senatorial districts together to consider a sustainable framework for political power-sharing, while promoting unity, peace, inclusive governance and development.
The NYC Kogi leadership said it aligns with the broader objective of linking discussions about power rotation with competence, integrity, accountability and the capacity to deliver development.
It stressed that conversations about political inclusion should also consider the quality of leadership and the ability of government to deliver meaningful improvements in the lives of citizens.
NYC urges youths to participate
The youth organisation called on young people across Kogi State’s 21 Local Government Areas to take an active interest in the summit and the issues expected to arise from the discussions.
It urged youths to contribute constructively to conversations about the political and developmental direction of the state rather than remaining passive participants in matters that directly affect their future.
The NYC also expressed the hope that the summit would generate ideas capable of strengthening unity and creating a greater sense of belonging among the different communities and interest groups in Kogi.
The summit’s organisers have maintained that the event is not designed to promote an individual, political party or particular zone, but to create a broad-based conversation around the collective future of the state.
The two-day event is expected to feature engagements involving traditional institutions, religious leaders, political and community stakeholders, professionals, women and youth groups.
The NYC Kogi State Chapter wished the organisers, invited stakeholders and participants a successful and productive summit, while expressing support for dialogue aimed at promoting peace, unity, equity and shared prosperity in Kogi State.
