Kogi Communities Praise Gov Ododo for Improved Security, Seek Road Reconstruction

Traditional rulers and leaders from Kupa, Kakanda, Oworo and Eggan communities commend Governor Ododo for improved security, call for road projects to boost development.

LOKOJA — Traditional rulers and community leaders from Kupa, Kakanda, Oworo and Eggan in Lokoja Local Government Area of Kogi State have commended Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo for what they described as significant improvements in security across their communities.

The leaders gave the commendation during a meeting with the governor, where they acknowledged his administration’s sustained efforts in tackling insecurity, particularly within the challenging terrains of Lokoja II Constituency.

In his opening remarks, the Executive Chairman of Lokoja Local Government Area, Hon. Abdullahi Adamu, praised Governor Ododo for his commitment to the protection of lives and property, noting that proactive security measures introduced by the administration have helped restore public confidence. He said residents can now go about their daily activities with renewed assurance of safety.

Speaking on behalf of the traditional rulers, the Maiyaki of Kupa Land, His Royal Highness, Pharmacist Alhaji Dauda Kabir Isa, expressed deep appreciation to the governor for the decisive actions taken against bandits and other criminal elements that had previously threatened peace in the area.

He noted that the improved security situation has enabled farmers to return to their farmlands, traders to operate freely, and children to attend school without fear, describing peace as the most valuable achievement delivered by the current administration.

The royal father, however, appealed to the governor to prioritise the reconstruction of the Jamata–Budan–Abugi–Eggan road, stressing that improved road infrastructure would further enhance accessibility, stimulate economic activities, and consolidate development in the communities. He also acknowledged ongoing infrastructural projects across the state.

Also speaking, the Director General of the Kogi State Bureau of Public Procurement, Barrister Sunday Ehimoni, said the administration has positively impacted the welfare of the Oworo people, particularly in the areas of healthcare, education and general well-being.

The Member representing Lokoja/Kogi Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives highlighted several constituency projects he has facilitated, while pledging additional logistical support to strengthen security operations in the area. He commended Governor Ododo’s people-oriented leadership style.

Similarly, the Speaker of the Kogi State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Aliyu Umar Yusuf, expressed appreciation to the governor for restoring confidence in government through enhanced security, noting that residents now feel safer under the current administration.

Responding, Governor Ododo thanked the royal fathers and community leaders for their cooperation with government security initiatives, emphasizing that sustained peace depends largely on collaboration between communities and security agencies.

He urged residents to remain vigilant and avoid shielding criminal elements, warning that any actions capable of undermining security efforts would not be tolerated. The governor reiterated his administration’s firm stance against criminality, stressing that there would be no negotiations with perpetrators of violence.

Governor Ododo also commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his continued support in strengthening security across Kogi State and the country, noting that federal backing has been instrumental in ongoing efforts to safeguard lives and property.

On infrastructure, the governor assured the communities that road development remains a top priority, adding that critical roads within the constituency, including those requested, would be given due consideration to boost economic activities, particularly in agrarian areas.

The meeting underscored growing confidence among community leaders in the state government’s security architecture, with stakeholders expressing optimism that sustained collaboration would further consolidate peace and development across Lokoja Local Government Area.
