The Northern Youth Advocacy for Development has endorsed SGF George Akume’s leadership and called for stronger political unity across the North Central region ahead of future national power negotiations.

LOKOJA — The Northern Youth Advocacy for Development (NYAD) has called for stronger political cooperation among leaders in the North Central region, describing the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume, as a key figure capable of uniting the zone.
The call was made by the Coordinator of the group in Kogi West, Hon. Abdulganiyu Abdullahi, during a one-day programme organized by the Seyi Tinubu Support Group in Lokoja, the Kogi State capital.
Abdullahi stressed the need for political leaders across the North Central to begin building a coordinated and sustainable structure capable of protecting the region’s interests and securing greater opportunities for young people.
According to him, governors, senators, members of the House of Representatives, and state lawmakers from the region must work together with a shared vision aimed at strengthening the political future of the North Central.
He described Senator Akume, who currently serves as Secretary to the Government of the Federation, as an experienced leader with the capacity to foster inclusiveness and political stability within the region.
“Senator George Akume has demonstrated leadership qualities that encourage unity and dialogue. His experience and ability to accommodate different interests make him a strong rallying point for the North Central,” Abdullahi said.
The youth leader noted that collaboration among political stakeholders would be critical to sustaining the region’s relevance in national politics beyond the current administration.
He also expressed support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration, stating that the Renewed Hope agenda has created a platform for broader political engagement and regional inclusion.
Abdullahi further urged leaders in the North Central to close ranks and strategically position the region for greater participation in national leadership in the years ahead.
According to him, early political alignment and unity of purpose would help lay the foundation for future aspirations of the zone at the national level.
The event attracted youth mobilizers, political stakeholders, and supporters from different parts of Kogi State, with discussions centered on political participation, youth inclusion, and regional cooperation.
