A frontline aspirant for the Kogi State House of Assembly representing Kabba/Bunu Constituency, Chief Olugbemi Femi, has commended Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo for the successful evacuation of Kogi State students from Jos, Plateau State, following recent security concerns in the area.
In a statement made available to journalists, Olugbemi described the governor’s intervention as timely and decisive, noting that it underscores a strong commitment to the safety and welfare of Kogi indigenes, particularly students studying outside the state.
The evacuation followed unrest in parts of Jos, which raised fears over the safety of students, including those of Kogi origin studying at the University of Jos and other tertiary institutions within Plateau State.
Olugbemi praised the swift coordination between the Kogi State Government, security agencies, and relevant federal authorities, which he said ensured the safe relocation of the affected students without incident.
According to him, the exercise reflects proactive leadership and a responsive governance approach aimed at protecting lives, especially in times of uncertainty. He added that the prompt action taken by the governor helped to allay fears among parents and guardians.
“The safety of our people must always come first. The governor’s swift response to the situation in Jos has once again demonstrated his sense of responsibility and dedication to the wellbeing of Kogi citizens,” he stated.
