Democracy Newsline Newspaper has announced plans to host its 16th Public Lecture and Induction into the Good Governance Hall of Fame, an annual platform dedicated to recognising individuals who have made significant contributions to Nigeria’s development.
The event is scheduled to hold on May 19, 2026, at National Merit House, and is expected to attract prominent personalities from government, academia, and the private sector.
This year’s lecture will focus on the theme “Economic Reforms, Democracy, and Sustainable Development: The Nigerian Example.” The theme reflects ongoing national conversations around economic policy reforms and their implications for democratic governance and long-term development.
According to the organisers, the public lecture will feature presentations from distinguished scholars, policymakers, and industry experts who will examine how economic reforms can serve as catalysts for sustainable development in Nigeria.
As part of the programme, selected dignitaries will be formally inducted into the Good Governance Hall of Fame in recognition of their remarkable achievements in areas such as community development, business leadership, and entrepreneurship. The honourees were chosen based on their demonstrated commitment to promoting good governance, civic participation, and sustainable growth across the country.
The event is also expected to feature a red carpet reception, award presentations, and a dinner programme designed to celebrate the contributions of the award recipients.
In addition, Democracy Newsline Newspaper will use the occasion to unveil its ₦100 million Podcast Studio equipment alongside the launch of Democracy Newsline Online Television, an initiative aimed at expanding its media platforms and strengthening advocacy for democratic governance and accountability in Nigeria.
The management of the organisation expressed confidence that the gathering will serve as a platform for meaningful dialogue, critical reflection, and exchange of ideas on Nigeria’s democratic journey and development priorities.
They also noted that the event is expected to inspire stakeholders and citizens alike to contribute towards building a more prosperous and sustainable future for the nation.
