Ebira Doctors Hail Ozovehe’s Appointment as FTH Lokoja CMD, Express Confidence in Reforms
Medical body pledges support as new CMD assumes leadership of Kogi’s only federal tertiary hospital
The Ebira Doctors’ Forum (EDF) has congratulated Dr. Shehu Abdulrahman Ozovehe on his appointment as the Chief Medical Director (CMD) of the Federal Teaching Hospital, Lokoja (FTHL), describing it as a landmark achievement for the medical community in Kogi State.
In a statement issued on Sunday in Lokoja and signed by its Secretary, Dr. Moses Shaibu, the forum commended the appointment and expressed confidence in Dr. Ozovehe’s capacity to reposition the institution for improved service delivery.
The forum noted that the Federal Teaching Hospital, Lokoja, remains the only federal tertiary health institution in the state, underscoring the significance of the leadership role entrusted to the new CMD.
According to the EDF, Dr. Ozovehe’s emergence is a reflection of his years of dedication, professional excellence, and commitment to the welfare of colleagues within the medical field. The association described his appointment as a source of pride to the Ebira medical community and the broader Ebira nation.
“We are confident that he possesses the vision, experience, and determination required to transform the hospital into a centre of clinical excellence, research advancement, and institutional integrity,” the statement read.
The forum also pledged its support for the new CMD, assuring him of its readiness to collaborate towards achieving sustainable growth and development at the institution.
Dr. Ozovehe, a seasoned Chemical Pathologist, brings to the position a wealth of experience garnered from various leadership roles in the medical profession. He previously served as President of the Association of Resident Doctors at Ahmadu Bello University Teaching Hospital (ABUTH), Zaria, and held key positions within the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA) in Kaduna State, including Secretary and Chairman. He also chaired the NMA Committee on Remuneration and Welfare and served as a board member.
The EDF offered prayers for wisdom, good health, and success in his new role, expressing optimism that his tenure would usher in meaningful progress for the institution and the healthcare sector at large.
