The decision was reached during a consultative meeting involving party executives, stakeholders and representatives from the 15 wards of the local government area. At the end of the deliberations, the party issued a communiqué outlining several grievances against the senator since his election into the National Assembly.

According to the communiqué, party leaders expressed concern over what they described as the senator’s limited accessibility to constituents in Kabba/Bunu, noting that the situation has widened the gap between the office of the senator and grassroots supporters who contributed to his electoral victory.

The party also criticised the absence of a senatorial district office in Kabba, the traditional administrative headquarters of Kogi West, arguing that the lack of such a structure has restricted access for constituents seeking engagement with their representative.

Another issue raised during the meeting was the alleged exclusion of Kabba/Bunu indigenes from the senator’s legislative aide appointments. Party leaders described the development as unfair to the local government area given its political contribution to his election.

The communiqué further accused the senator of failing to maintain adequate coordination with party leadership and structures at both the state and local government levels. Party members also alleged that Senator Karimi has not actively participated in party meetings or engagements in Kabba/Bunu since assuming office, a development they say has created feelings of neglect among party members at the grassroots.

In addition, the stakeholders expressed concern that the senator’s leadership approach has not fostered unity within the party structure, alleging that divisions and political disagreements have persisted within the local chapter of the party.

Based on these concerns, the APC leadership and stakeholders in Kabba/Bunu unanimously resolved to pass a vote of no confidence on Senator Karimi.

The party leaders also declared their rejection of any future re-election bid by the senator, stating that the decision was informed by what they described as persistent neglect of grassroots party structures and failure to provide inclusive representation.

Despite the development, the APC leadership in the local government reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening the party structure and promoting unity among members ahead of future political activities in the senatorial district.

The communiqué was signed by the Kabba/Bunu APC Chairman, Chief Jimoh Kobere, the party Secretary, Chief Olorunfemi Adebayo Frank, the Women Leader Bidemi Olowosegun, alongside ward chairmen from the 15 wards in the local government area.
