Tinubu 2027: Kano Governor, Yahaya Bello, Other Dignitaries Grace Abejide’s Empowerment Programme

Governor Abba Yusuf, former Kogi Governor Yahaya Bello and APC National Youth Leader Dayo Israel were among dignitaries at the Kano event, where Abejide combined economic empowerment with a call for support for President Tinubu’s re-election.

The Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf; former Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello; and other prominent political and traditional leaders were among dignitaries who attended the 2026/2027 Kano State Empowerment Programme organised by the Leke Abejide Foundation.

The event, which brought together members of the Yoruba and Kogi communities resident in Kano, also attracted the APC National Youth Leader, Hon. Dayo Israel, and the traditional ruler of the Yoruba community in Kano, His Royal Highness, Oba Murtala Otisese.

Popular comedian Seyi Law anchored the programme, while Fuji music star, Wasiu Ayinde Marshal, popularly known as K1 De Ultimate, entertained the audience.

In his remarks, former Governor Yahaya Bello described the programme as significant politically, financially and materially. He commended Rt. Hon. Leke Abejide for using the foundation to support the people and promote unity among Kogi indigenes and other communities in Kano.

Bello urged participants to support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election bid, calling for more than two million votes from Kano in the 2027 general election. He also cited the Abuja-Kaduna-Kano road project as one of the reasons for supporting the President’s second-term ambition.

Governor Yusuf commended Abejide for extending his empowerment activities to Kano, describing the state as a commercial centre and a home for people from different backgrounds. He acknowledged the contributions of Yoruba, Ebira and Igala communities to the state’s economic and political development.

The governor also expressed support for the objectives of the programme and announced that the Kano State Government would provide land for the proposed palace of the Oba of Yoruba in Kano. He further pledged a personal donation of ₦100 million towards the project.

Abejide, in his address, called for stronger political cooperation among Yoruba and Kogi indigenes in Kano, urging them to mobilise support for President Tinubu and other candidates he identified ahead of the 2027 elections.

He also unveiled a ₦500 million interest-free loan scheme for women in business, alongside direct support for widows and plans for a separate empowerment programme for youths and men.

The lawmaker explained that the initiative was part of his effort to give back to Kano, where he began his business journey after arriving from Alu, Yagba East Local Government Area of Kogi State, in 1993.

The Yoruba traditional ruler, Oba Otisese, described the occasion as a day of joy and prayed for God’s blessings on the organisers and beneficiaries.

K1 De Ultimate also used his musical performance to call for support for President Tinubu and Governor Yusuf, while appreciating Abejide for organising the programme.

The event brought together political leaders, traditional institutions and community representatives, with discussions spanning economic empowerment, community development and political participation ahead of the 2027 general election.
