Kogi West APC Primary: Sam Aro Calls for Reconciliation, Extends Hand of Fellowship to Karimi After Court Judgment
ABUJA
Hon. Sam Aro has called for unity and reconciliation within the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kogi West Senatorial District following the judgment of the Federal High Court, Abuja, concerning the party’s senatorial primary election.
In a statement dated November 4, 2026, Aro welcomed the court’s decision with gratitude and humility, describing it as an important moment in the political journey of Kogi West and an opportunity for party members to put their differences behind them.
He commended the judiciary for upholding the principles of the rule of law, due process and peaceful resolution of disputes through democratic institutions, stressing that political disagreements should be addressed through established legal and democratic processes.
Aro, however, said the judgment should not be regarded as a victory over any individual, insisting that the moment calls for reconciliation, reflection and a renewed commitment to the people of Kogi West.
“There is no victor and no vanquished,” he declared, as he extended a hand of friendship and brotherhood to Senator Sunday Karimi, whose political contributions to the district he acknowledged and described as worthy of respect.
The APC chieftain maintained that the differences between them were political rather than personal, adding that both remained brothers with a common heritage and responsibility to the people of Kogi West.
He also appealed to Karimi’s supporters across the senatorial district to embrace reconciliation, acknowledging their loyalty and commitment to their preferred candidate.
According to Aro, the mandate arising from the court judgment should not be treated as the exclusive possession of any individual or group, but as a responsibility that ultimately concerns all APC members and the people of Kogi West, regardless of their political affiliations or preferences.
Aro Warns Against Political Intolerance
The APC figure cautioned his supporters against triumphalism, bitterness, provocation and political exclusion, urging them to celebrate the development with restraint and respect for the feelings of other party members.
He specifically warned against using the court judgment as an opportunity to ridicule, disparage or provoke Senator Karimi and his supporters.
Aro said the priority should now be to rebuild confidence, strengthen relationships and redirect collective efforts towards the development of the senatorial district.
He disclosed that, as preparations begin for the campaign, he intends to personally reach out to party leaders, stakeholders, elders, women, youths and supporters across the seven local government areas that make up Kogi West.
He assured party members and residents that his proposed political engagement would be inclusive, stressing that no community or stakeholder would be considered insignificant in the process of building a united political platform.
According to him, the campaign will be guided by unity, inclusion, mutual respect and a commitment to addressing the development needs and aspirations of the people.
He further pledged to focus on expanding opportunities, strengthening representation and ensuring that the benefits of democratic governance reach communities across the district.
Calls for APC Unity Ahead of 2027 Elections
Looking ahead to the 2027 general elections, Aro called on APC leaders and members in Kogi West to close ranks and work together towards the success of the party.
He argued that the collective responsibility of securing the party’s electoral fortunes and advancing the interests of the district should take precedence over individual ambitions and disagreements arising from the primary election.
Reiterating his appeal to Karimi and his supporters, Aro expressed readiness to meet with them, exchange ideas and work towards rebuilding trust in the overall interest of Kogi West.
He said political contests might produce different outcomes, but relationships built on brotherhood, friendship and a shared commitment to the future of the district should remain intact.
Aro concluded by calling for a Kogi West where all communities and political interests have a sense of belonging and an opportunity to contribute to collective progress.
He prayed for continued peace and development in Kogi West, Kogi State and Nigeria.
The statement was signed by Hon. Sam Aro of the All Progressives Congress, Kogi West Senatorial District.
