2027 Elections: Faleke Obtains APC Nomination Forms for Tinubu, Hamzat, Adebule and Himself

James Faleke has obtained APC nomination forms for President Bola Tinubu, Lagos Deputy Governor Obafemi Hamzat, Senator Idiat Adebule, and himself, signaling early preparations for the 2027 elections.

As political activities ahead of the 2027 general elections begin to gather momentum, a member of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. James Abiodun Faleke, has obtained All Progressives Congress (APC) nomination forms for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Lagos State Deputy Governor Dr. Obafemi Hamzat, Senator Idiat Adebule, and himself.

The development signals the start of strategic political preparations within the ruling party as influential stakeholders begin mobilising support for key office holders expected to seek elective positions in the next election cycle.

Faleke, who represents Ikeja Federal Constituency, reportedly secured the ₦100 million APC Presidential Expression of Interest and Nomination Form for President Tinubu as part of efforts to kick-start the President’s anticipated re-election campaign under the APC platform.

The lawmaker also obtained nomination forms for Dr. Obafemi Hamzat, who is expected to seek election as Governor of Lagos State, and Senator Idiat Adebule, representing Lagos West Senatorial District.

In addition, Faleke picked his own nomination form, signaling his readiness to return to contest for another term in the House of Representatives.

The multiple form purchases underscore the growing political coordination within the APC, especially in Lagos State, where party leaders are believed to be consolidating structures early ahead of the next electoral cycle.

Political observers say the move reflects increasing momentum around President Tinubu’s expected 2027 re-election bid, while also reinforcing the influence of Lagos political stakeholders within the ruling party.

Faleke, regarded as one of President Tinubu’s close political allies, has remained an influential figure in party mobilisation and legislative politics. His decision to obtain the forms for multiple aspirants is seen as a sign of coordinated planning and internal alignment among APC leaders.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has readjusted the official timetable for the 2027 elections to be as follows:

1. Presidential and National Assembly Elections will now be held on Saturday, 16th January 2027.

2. Governorship and State Houses of Assembly Elections will now hold on Saturday, 6th February 2027.

Developments within the APC indicate that political actors are already making early moves to secure strategic advantage.

Analysts believe that early preparations such as this help the ruling party project confidence, strengthen internal support systems, and reduce uncertainty ahead of the primaries.

The move is also expected to spark discussions across the political landscape, as opposition parties continue to monitor developments within the APC and strategise for the next election season.

With Faleke’s latest move, the build-up to the 2027 elections appears to have begun in earnest, with the APC making an early statement about its readiness to defend its positions at both the federal and state levels.
