Yagba East Lawmaker Releases ₦20m Scorecard, Details Projects, Empowerment and Bills (2023–2026)

Kogi lawmaker Emmanuel Obaro presents a detailed 2023–2026 scorecard, showcasing ₦20m constituency projects, empowerment initiatives, security interventions, and legislative achievements in Yagba East.

LOKOJA — The member representing Yagba East in the Kogi State House of Assembly, , has released a comprehensive account of his stewardship, outlining projects, interventions, and legislative contributions executed between 2023 and 2026.

The report, which spans infrastructure, security, education, economic empowerment, and oversight responsibilities, underscores what the lawmaker described as a commitment to measurable service delivery across the constituency.

Infrastructure and Water Supply

According to the document, projects valued at over ₦20 million were executed across the 10 wards of Yagba East in 2025 alone. These include the construction of lock-up shops in Itedo-Makutu, renovation of classroom blocks in Makutu, and upgrades to educational facilities such as Takete Isao Primary School under the Universal Basic Education (UBE) framework.

Additional interventions include the construction of drainage systems, a pavilion in Ijowa Alaofin, and installation of a solar-powered borehole in Idofin. The lawmaker also facilitated the provision and repair of several boreholes across communities, alongside support for water reticulation systems.

Security Interventions

To strengthen local security architecture, Obaro provided operational vehicles, including two Sharon buses and five motorcycles, to security outfits. Financial support was also extended to community-based security groups, including the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps and local hunters.

Monthly stipends were introduced for selected hunters in vulnerable areas, while additional logistics and welfare support were distributed across affected communities. Victims of security incidents also received medical assistance.

Economic Empowerment

The report highlights a series of empowerment initiatives aimed at boosting small businesses and livelihoods. A total of ₦20 million was disbursed as start-up capital to artisans, farmers, and small-scale entrepreneurs, with additional grants extended to over 100 SMEs.

Ward-based interventions and targeted funding for youth groups, transport unions, and community associations were also implemented to stimulate grassroots economic growth.

Education and Youth Development

In the area of education, the lawmaker sponsored free JAMB registrations for hundreds of students across multiple years, while also supporting student unions and youth organisations financially.

Educational infrastructure was complemented with the donation of computer systems to schools, alongside funding for academic development programmes and vocational training initiatives.

Humanitarian and Social Support

The scorecard also details humanitarian interventions, including a free medical outreach programme valued at ₦2 million, as well as food distribution during festive periods such as Christmas and Ramadan.

Support for widows, women groups, and traditional institutions formed a significant part of the outreach, with cash, food items, and other relief materials distributed across communities.

Legislative and Oversight Activities

On the legislative front, Obaro sponsored key bills, including the Urban and Regional Planning Bill and the College of Health Technology Bill, both of which have been passed and are awaiting assent. Other proposed laws, including amendments to traditional institutions and tourism development, are at various stages of consideration.

The lawmaker also moved motions addressing infrastructure deficits, erosion control, security concerns, and road development, reflecting ongoing advocacy for constituency needs.

Oversight functions covered multiple ministries and agencies, with visits to major industrial facilities such as and as part of efforts to ensure compliance and development.

Political and Community Engagement

The report further notes support for party structures and grassroots mobilisation efforts, including funding for ward-level activities and voter engagement initiatives. Employment opportunities were also facilitated for constituents in both public and private sectors.

The scorecard frames the lawmaker’s activities as part of a broader agenda to deliver impactful representation and sustainable development across Yagba East.
