Rep. Leke Abejide celebrates Nigerian workers on Workers’ Day 2026, praising their resilience and commending President Tinubu’s efforts to improve labour welfare and living standards.

The Member representing Yagba Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Leke Abejide, has congratulated Nigerian workers on the occasion of the 2026 Workers’ Day, describing them as critical drivers of national growth and community development.

In a statement issued to mark the celebration, Abejide paid tribute to workers across the country, with special recognition for those in Yagba, Kabba/Bunu, and Ijumu Local Government Areas of Kogi State. He commended their resilience, dedication, and productivity in sustaining the nation’s economy despite prevailing socio-economic challenges.

The lawmaker noted that Workers’ Day offers an important opportunity not only to celebrate the workforce but also to assess policies and initiatives aimed at improving workers’ welfare, dignity, and overall productivity.

Abejide also lauded President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for ongoing reforms targeted at enhancing labour welfare, including measures addressing wage concerns, social support systems, and broader economic policies designed to improve living standards.

He described the Federal Government’s efforts to strengthen social protection programmes and stabilise the economy as significant steps toward restoring confidence in public institutions and improving the wellbeing of workers.

According to him, the administration’s engagement with labour stakeholders and commitment to reforms represent a positive direction for the country’s workforce.

Reflecting on his representation, Abejide highlighted his contributions to human capital development within his constituency, citing initiatives such as educational support, youth empowerment programmes, and targeted welfare interventions.

He explained that efforts including sponsorship of students’ examinations, empowerment schemes for youths, and social support initiatives are part of a broader strategy to reduce economic hardship and promote sustainable livelihoods.

The lawmaker stressed that improving workers’ welfare goes beyond salary increments, emphasizing the importance of access to education, empowerment opportunities, and social safety nets in building a motivated and productive workforce.

He reaffirmed his commitment to advancing policies that will stimulate job creation, support small and medium-scale enterprises, and expand economic opportunities at the grassroots level.

Abejide further urged Nigerian workers to remain committed, patriotic, and optimistic, noting that their contributions remain vital to the stability and development of both Kogi State and the country at large.

He concluded by wishing workers a rewarding celebration and expressed hope that sustained collaboration among government, labour, and citizens would lead to improved welfare and national progress.
