Senator Sunday Steve Karimi, representing Kogi West Senatorial District in the National Assembly, has reiterated his commitment to delivering effective representation, advancing the welfare of his constituents, and supporting responsible journalism as a cornerstone of Nigeria’s democracy.

The senator made the pledge on Wednesday while receiving the Publisher and Editor-in-Chief of The Exposure Newspaper, Mr. Olayemi Gabriel, during a courtesy visit to his office at the National Assembly in Abuja.

The visit followed the recent recognition of Senator Karimi at the 14th Annual Lecture and Awards Ceremony of The Exposure Newspaper, where he was honoured for his contributions to legislative service, democratic governance and grassroots development.

Speaking during the meeting, Senator Karimi expressed appreciation to the newspaper’s management for the recognition, describing the award as an encouragement to remain steadfast in providing purposeful leadership and quality representation to the people of Kogi West Senatorial District.

He said the honour would further inspire him to champion policies and programmes that improve the living conditions of his constituents, stressing that public office demands dedication, accountability and service to the people.

According to the senator, the confidence reposed in him by the people of Kogi West remains a constant reminder of the responsibility to pursue initiatives that promote sustainable development and enhance the well-being of the district.

“I am deeply honoured by this recognition. It is an encouragement to continue working diligently for the progress of Kogi West and the overall development of our nation,” he said.

Senator Karimi also reaffirmed his support for the media, describing journalism as an indispensable institution in sustaining democracy and promoting transparency in governance.

He urged journalists and media practitioners to remain committed to factual, balanced and ethical reporting, noting that objective journalism plays a critical role in strengthening democratic institutions, fostering national unity and promoting good governance.

Earlier, the Publisher and Editor-in-Chief of The Exposure Newspaper, Mr. Olayemi Gabriel, congratulated Senator Karimi on his emergence at the All Progressives Congress (APC) senatorial primary election in Kogi State.

He attributed the senator’s success to what he described as his impactful legislative performance, commitment to grassroots development and sustained engagement with constituents across Kogi West.

Gabriel noted that the newspaper’s recognition was based on Senator Karimi’s contributions to legislative excellence, constituency development and national growth, adding that the honour reflected the lawmaker’s record of public service.
