PARTNERSHIP THAT WILL BRING RESULTS: ALL HANDS MUST BE ON DECK TO END INSECURITY IN KOGI STATE
By Hon. Ayo Mayegun

Kogi State needs all hands on deck. This is not the time for political grandstanding. This is not the time for finger-pointing. This is the time for partnership, genuine, selfless, and result-oriented partnership, to bring an end to the insecurity ravaging our land so that our people can once again enjoy the dividends of democracy in peace.
His Excellency, Governor Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, has been relentless in his push for more assistance from the Federal Government. He has been firm on his feet, investing resources, purchasing 50 armoured tanks, engaging security agencies, and working round the clock to ensure that our communities are safe. But one man cannot do it alone. The Governor is working, but he needs our support.
All representatives at the National Assembly, Senators and House of Representatives members must rise to the occasion. All political appointees must contribute their quota. All well-to-do sons and daughters of Kogi State must give a helping hand. This fight belongs to all of us.
Just as Rt. Hon. Leke Abejide has invested hugely in bringing about the Lion Squad — a community security initiative that has been effectively involved in combating banditry in our communities.
All our political gladiators should be a part of this fight. Security is not the responsibility of the Governor alone. It is a collective duty. Every leader with resources, influence, and access should be putting something on the table to support the war against banditry.
Hon. Aro Samuel Bamidele has already demonstrated to the people of Kogi West that he is ready to collaborate with the Governor and the government to see an end to insecurity. His recent visits to attack flashpoints, his engagement with security agencies, and his public commitment to supporting the security architecture of the state are clear signals that he understands the assignment. This is the kind of partnership we need from every leader across the state.
Our Governor is working. Let us all support him to achieve success. Let us rally behind him. Let us complement his efforts with our own contributions, whether in resources, intelligence, advocacy, or community mobilisation.
And to those already consumed with the politics of 2027, who becomes the next Governor? which region produces the candidate? which person gets the ticket: we say this with all respect: not now. The people of Kogi West are not thinking about 2027 right now. They are thinking about survival. They want relative peace. They want freedom from bandit attacks. They want to sleep with both eyes closed. They want to go to their farms without fear. They want their children to go to school and return alive.
Let us leave the politics of succession for another day. Today, the priority is security. Today, the priority is saving lives. Today, the priority is partnership that will bring results.
When our land is safe, when our people are free, when peace is restored then we can talk politics. But until then, every conversation that is not about ending insecurity is a distraction we cannot afford.
All hands on deck. One Kogi. One purpose. One fight.
Signed:
Hon. Ayo Mayegun.
