Ovia Osese 2026: Ogori Descendants’ Union to Confer Presidential Awards on Notable Personalities
Ogori Descendants’ Union will honour nine distinguished individuals with Presidential Awards during the 2026 Ovia Osese Festival in recognition of their contributions to community development and leadership.
The Ogori Descendants’ Union (ODU) has announced plans to honour nine distinguished individuals with its prestigious Presidential Awards in recognition of their contributions to community development, leadership, and service to society.
The awards will be presented during the 2026 Ovia Osese Festival, a major cultural event in Ogori, scheduled to hold on Friday, April 17, 2026, at the Civic Centre, Ogori.
The ceremony, which begins at 7:00 p.m., will be presided over by the President of the Union, Dr. Gabriel O. Aiso, alongside other dignitaries expected to grace the occasion.
According to a statement issued by the Vice President of the Union and Head of Communications, Petra Akinti Onyegbule, the award is reserved for individuals who have demonstrated excellence, integrity, and a sustained commitment to the progress of the Ogori community and the wider society.
Those listed for the honour include Dr. Ayo Olayemi, Chairman/Chief Medical Director of the Kogi State Hospital Management Board; Mr. Ayo Sumbo; Chief Felicia Ochefije Agbaire; Brigadier General Erema Akerejola (Rtd); Arc. Orayen Nathaniel Mosisuga; Mrs. Mary Koffa; Mr. Anuwe Kenny; Dr. Nwosu Charles; Mrs. Daisy Mosugu; and Dr. Iyela Ajayi.
The Union noted that the contributions of the awardees span multiple sectors, with their efforts significantly impacting community growth and inspiring positive change within and beyond Ogori.
The event is expected to serve not only as a platform to celebrate outstanding leadership but also to reinforce shared values and encourage younger generations to contribute meaningfully to societal development.
