Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo has lauded the Kogi State Commissioner for Solid Minerals and Natural Resources, Engr. Abubakar Bashiru Gegu, for his steadfast loyalty, leadership capacity, and contributions to governance, describing him as one of the administration’s most dependable allies.

The governor made the remarks during a thank-you visit to Kogi Local Government Area, where he engaged with traditional rulers, political stakeholders, and community leaders in appreciation of their continued support.

Addressing a gathering at the palace of the Ohimege Igu of Koton-Karfe, Ododo highlighted the commissioner’s role in strengthening grassroots participation and advancing government policies within the area. He noted that Engr. Gegu has remained consistent in aligning with the administration’s vision while ensuring that the interests of the people are well represented.

He characterised the commissioner as a reliable and result-driven leader, praising his commitment, openness in service, and ability to deliver on responsibilities. The governor also used symbolic titles to underscore Gegu’s influence and strategic importance within the political landscape of the state.

According to Ododo, the commissioner has demonstrated uncommon dedication, earning the confidence of both the government and the people through sustained engagement and effective mobilisation at the grassroots level.

The governor further commended residents of Kogi Local Government Area for their unwavering support, describing them as partners in progress whose cooperation has contributed to the successes recorded by his administration so far.

Reiterating his administration’s priorities, Ododo assured the people of continued focus on development initiatives, particularly in infrastructure and community-based projects. He described Kogi LGA as a place of personal significance and reaffirmed his resolve to expand government presence through impactful programmes.

The visit witnessed a significant turnout of residents and political figures, reflecting strong public interest and support. As part of the activities, the governor undertook an inspection of the newly constructed palace of the Ohimege Igu Kingdom and held consultations with local leaders on pressing issues, including development needs and security concerns.

In his remarks, Engr. Bashiru Gegu acknowledged the contributions of former Governor Yahaya Bello, noting that his administration laid the groundwork for the state’s current developmental trajectory. He also commended Governor Ododo for sustaining and building upon that foundation.
