ODA Calls for Urgent Support for Egbeda-Egga Community After Devastating Rainstorm in Ijumu

The Okun Development Association (ODA) has appealed to government agencies, well-meaning individuals and philanthropists to come to the aid of residents of Egbeda-Egga community in Ijumu Local Government Area of Kogi State following a devastating rainstorm that left many families homeless.
In a statement issued by its National Publicity Secretary, Dayo Thomas, the association called on stakeholders to urgently provide relief materials, including shelter, food and medical assistance, to affected residents who are currently facing hardship after the disaster.
According to the association, the rainstorm caused significant destruction in the community, damaging over 40 residential buildings, while churches and several businesses were also affected. The destruction has left many families without homes and disrupted their sources of livelihood.
ODA expressed deep concern over the impact of the disaster on the affected residents and emphasized the need for collective action to help restore normalcy in the community.
“We believe that collective efforts can help alleviate the suffering and rebuild the community,” the association stated while urging both government institutions and humanitarian organisations to respond swiftly to the situation.
The association further expressed solidarity with the victims of the disaster, noting that the affected families are going through a difficult period after losing their homes and means of livelihood.
“We stand in unwavering solidarity with the affected families and individuals, acknowledging their pain and struggles. Our thoughts are with those who have lost their homes and livelihoods, and we pray that they find comfort and strength in this difficult time,” the statement added.
ODA therefore urged authorities and concerned stakeholders to mobilise support that will help provide immediate relief and assist the community in rebuilding after the destruction caused by the rainstorm.
