Leke Abejide Congratulates Egbe on Unity Day, Announces ₦20m Foundation Support and ₦800m Road Project

Rt. Hon. Leke Abejide has congratulated Egbe sons and daughters on the 2026 Unity Day celebration, announced another ₦20 million Foundation support and highlighted plans for the Ajaforunti-Oja Egbe Road project.

Rt. Hon. Leke Joseph Abejide, the lawmaker representing Yagba East, Yagba West and Mopamuro Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, has congratulated the people of Egbe on the 2026 Egbe Unity Day celebration, reaffirming his commitment to community development and announcing further support for the historic town.

Abejide, who holds the traditional titles of Maiyegun of Egbe Land and Asiwaju of Yagba, extended his goodwill to Egbe sons and daughters at home and in the diaspora, describing the community as a place of special significance to him and expressing his delight at identifying with its people and development aspirations.

Speaking at the celebration, the lawmaker disclosed that Egbe had received ₦20 million in the previous disbursement from the Leke Abejide Foundation and would benefit from a second tranche of ₦20 million in the coming period.

He said the intervention formed part of his commitment to ensuring that communities across Yagba Federal Constituency benefit from development initiatives and that support reaches people at the grassroots.

Abejide stressed that his vision remained focused on making a meaningful difference in the lives of constituents through community-based interventions, improved infrastructure and sustained attention to local development needs.

Addressing the condition of the Ajaforunti-Oja Egbe Road, the lawmaker revealed that the project had been captured in the 2026 appropriation budget at an estimated cost of ₦800 million, describing the road as requiring urgent and sustained attention, particularly after the rainy season.

He explained that the proposed work would include an asphalt overlay on a 1.2-kilometre stretch, along with the construction of 2.4 kilometres of concrete drainage and erosion-control infrastructure to address some of the challenges affecting the road.

The planned intervention is expected to improve road access, support commercial activities and ease movement for residents and other road users. Abejide expressed his determination to pursue the necessary attention to the project as weather conditions become more favourable for construction.

The federal lawmaker reiterated that security, human development and infrastructure remained central to his representation, noting that effective development must translate into tangible benefits for individuals and communities.

He added that he would continue to support initiatives aimed at improving security and creating an environment where communities could thrive economically and socially.

Abejide also called on the people of Egbe to support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the administration of Kogi State Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo. He urged residents to give the President strong electoral support, arguing that continued backing for the administration would help advance its development objectives.

As part of his ongoing engagement with infrastructure projects across the constituency, Abejide also inspected road palliative works along the Ijowa-Mopo axis in Isanlu, Yagba East Local Government Area.

The inspection complemented his remarks at the Egbe Unity Day celebration, highlighting his stated commitment to monitoring road interventions and addressing transportation challenges affecting communities across Yagba.

His engagements at Egbe and along the Ijowa-Mopo axis underscored the importance of combining community support initiatives with infrastructure development to improve living conditions, strengthen local economies, and promote sustainable development across the federal constituency.
