Leke Abejide Commissions Oke-Aga Road in Odo-Ere, Says Infrastructure Will Boost Yagba Development
Rt. Hon. Leke Abejide has commissioned the newly constructed Oke-Aga Road in Odo-Ere, Yagba West, reaffirming his commitment to rural infrastructure and economic development across Yagba Federal Constituency.

Rt. Hon. Leke Joseph Abejide, member representing Yagba East, Yagba West and Mopamuro Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, has commissioned the newly constructed Oke-Aga Road in Odo-Ere, Yagba West Local Government Area of Kogi State, describing the project as an important step towards accelerating economic growth and improving the lives of residents.
Speaking at the commissioning ceremony, Abejide emphasised that road infrastructure remained a critical driver of economic and social development, noting that accessible roads were essential for facilitating commercial activities, connecting communities and creating opportunities for local businesses.
He described the commissioning as more than the formal opening of a road, saying it represented the translation of development priorities into tangible projects capable of delivering practical benefits to the people.
“Today, our gathering goes beyond the commissioning of a road. We are here to celebrate vision translated into reality, promises transformed into tangible outcomes, and leadership measured by impact,” Abejide said.
The lawmaker noted that road construction and rehabilitation had remained among the priorities of his representation since assuming office, stressing that improved infrastructure was necessary to stimulate economic activities and strengthen connections between communities within the federal constituency.
According to him, several roads across the constituency have either been rehabilitated or are at different stages of completion, while additional projects are expected to be undertaken as part of ongoing efforts to improve rural infrastructure.
Abejide also highlighted the ongoing development of the Oja Opè market in Odo-Ere, which he said was approximately 90 per cent complete. The ultra-modern market project, located around the Oke-Aga area, features enclosed and open shops alongside other facilities designed to support commercial activities.
He expressed optimism that the market, upon completion, would complement the road project by improving access to trading facilities, supporting local commerce and contributing to the economic development of Odo-Ere and neighbouring communities.
The lawmaker reaffirmed his commitment to sustained investment in rural infrastructure, noting that improved road networks would help residents transport agricultural produce, access markets and take advantage of emerging economic opportunities.
He maintained that development projects should deliver benefits beyond their immediate locations by strengthening economic links, improving mobility and creating an environment in which communities and businesses could thrive.
The commissioning ceremony attracted prominent political leaders and other stakeholders from Yagba West, who gathered to witness the formal opening of the Oke-Aga Road.
The project adds to ongoing infrastructure development efforts being highlighted by Abejide across Yagba Federal Constituency, with further road rehabilitation and the completion of ongoing projects expected to remain central to improving connectivity and supporting local economic growth.
