Kogi West Youths Reject Ward Chairmen’s No-Confidence Vote on Senator Karimi, Echo Miliki’s Call for People-Driven Decisions

A youth advocacy group in has condemned the recent vote of no confidence passed on the senator representing the district, Sunday Steve Karimi, by some ward chairmen of the All Progressives Congress, describing the move as unnecessary and capable of creating avoidable political tension within the party.
The group made its position known during a press conference held in Kabba, expressing concern that the development could deepen divisions within the party at a time when unity and cooperation are critical to strengthening political stability and development in the senatorial district.
Speaking on behalf of the youth group, Kehinde Afolabi said the press briefing was organised to clarify the position of concerned youths and encourage responsible leadership among party stakeholders. He stressed that youths across the district remain committed to peace, unity and progressive leadership that promotes development and inclusiveness.

He stressed that youths remain focused on leadership that prioritises youth empowerment, education, community development, and sustainable opportunities.
The group also highlighted people-oriented initiatives facilitated by Senator Karimi across the district, including empowerment programmes, educational support, and community-based interventions benefiting youths, women, and local communities.
The press conference was moderated by Omotayo Omokehinde, ensuring that the group’s concerns were clearly presented to journalists and the public. Public affairs commentator, Alao Depolitician underscored the need for political maturity, unity, and constructive engagement among stakeholders.
