Kogi West Journalists Unite Behind Rotimi Odofin, Adopt Him as Sole Candidate for NUJ Chairmanship Election
The Kogi West Journalists Forum has unanimously endorsed Comrade Rotimi Odofin as its sole candidate for the forthcoming Kogi State NUJ chairmanship election, pledging total support for his emergence and commitment to professionalism.

The Kogi West Journalists Forum has thrown its weight behind Comrade Rotimi Odofin, unanimously endorsing him as its sole candidate for the forthcoming election into the chairmanship position of the Kogi State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ).
The endorsement was reached during an extraordinary meeting of the forum held on Saturday at the NUJ Press Centre in Lokoja, where members unanimously resolved to present Odofin as the consensus candidate from Kogi West.
Announcing the decision, the Acting Chairman of the Forum, Comrade Amuda Dan Suleiman, popularly known as FAB, described the endorsement as a demonstration of unity and confidence in Odofin’s capacity to provide purposeful leadership for the union.
He urged members of the forum to remain united and committed throughout the electioneering process to ensure the success of the forum’s candidate at the polls.
FAB congratulated members for speaking with one voice on the decision and charged Odofin to remain a worthy representative of the Kogi West Journalists Forum by upholding the values and integrity of the profession.
Responding to the endorsement, Comrade Rotimi Odofin expressed appreciation to members for the confidence reposed in him, describing the unanimous adoption as both an honour and a responsibility.
He pledged to operate an inclusive leadership style if elected, assuring members that every segment of the council would be carried along in the administration of the union.
Odofin also promised to prioritize professionalism, strengthen ethical journalism, and pursue reforms that would advance the welfare and collective interests of journalists across Kogi State.
According to him, the council would witness significant progress under his leadership, with renewed emphasis on unity, professional excellence and institutional development.
Earlier, while moving the motion for Odofin’s nomination as the forum’s consensus candidate, Comrade Muhammad Bashir described him as a seasoned journalist with a proven record of diligence, commitment and professionalism.
He urged members to rally behind the aspirant, expressing confidence that Odofin possesses the experience and leadership qualities required to lead the Kogi State NUJ Council.
The motion was seconded by Comrade Ahmed Mubarak, after which members unanimously adopted it through a voice vote, officially endorsing Rotimi Odofin as the sole candidate of the Kogi West Journalists Forum for the forthcoming NUJ chairmanship election.
The endorsement is expected to strengthen Odofin’s campaign as preparations intensify for the election to produce a new leadership for the Kogi State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists.
