KGIRS Extends 2025 Individual Tax Filing Deadline to April 30, Urges Compliance

The Kogi State Internal Revenue Service (KGIRS) has announced an extension of the deadline for filing 2025 Individual Annual Tax Returns, granting taxpayers an additional one-month window to comply with statutory requirements.
The new deadline has been fixed for April 30, 2026, according to a public notice issued by the Executive Chairman of the Service, Dr. Sule Salihu Enehe.
Dr. Enehe urged all eligible taxpayers across the state to take advantage of the extension to complete their filings promptly and avoid sanctions associated with late submission.
He emphasised that compliance with tax obligations remains a civic responsibility critical to the state’s revenue generation and development efforts.
The Service also reiterated that all filings are to be completed through its official online platform, where taxpayers are required to log in using their Kogi State Tax Identification Number (KGTIN) and password.
According to the notice, the extension is intended to ease the filing process and provide adequate time for individuals who may have encountered challenges meeting the initial deadline.
KGIRS assured residents of continued support through its digital platforms and encouraged taxpayers to ensure accurate and timely submission of their returns.
The agency warned that penalties would apply after the revised deadline, urging taxpayers to act within the stipulated period.
The move is part of broader efforts by the Kogi State Government to enhance tax compliance, improve internally generated revenue, and strengthen fiscal sustainability.
Taxpayers are required to complete their filings online via http://taxpayers.irs.kg.gov.ng using their KGTIN and password.
