Kabba, Kogi State – 17 March 2026 – The Executive Chairman of Kabba/Bunu Local Government Area, Hon. (Barr.) Zacchaeus Dare Michael, on Tuesday paid a courtesy visit to the Owe Okemeta Council of Chiefs at the Idogba Royal Family Hall, Agonmo Quarters, Kabba, highlighting the critical role of traditional rulers in governance and pledging enhanced support for cultural institutions.
During the visit, Zacchaeus extended warm felicitations on behalf of the local government, describing the meeting not only as a family gathering but as a symbolic celebration of unity, cultural resilience, and enduring leadership.
He commended the council for maintaining peace and promoting cohesion across communities, assuring them of improved welfare packages as part of the administration’s ongoing support for traditional institutions.
“This visit is not just to honour the Council of Chiefs but also to strengthen cultural diplomacy between government and Oweland. There is a shared responsibility between our people, and this is an opportunity to build on it,” the chairman noted.
Zacchaeus emphasized that the meeting provided a platform to reflect on the evolving role of traditional rulers in shaping culture, identity, and societal development in modern governance.
The chairman described the Owe Okemeta Chiefs as custodians of profound wisdom, whose knowledge of Owe history and institutions remains invaluable to the local government.
Chief Gboyegba Aka, representing the council, commended the chairman for the visible progress and development recorded in Kabba/Bunu LGA under his administration.
Zacchaeus also called on the council to assist the government in maintaining law and order by supporting security agencies with relevant information to curb crime and banditry in the area.
