The recent heavy downpour in Lokoja witnessed in the late hours of yesterday, till the early hours of today, no doubt caused streets to flood, but the swift response of Engr. Joseph Oluwasegun, Kogi State Commissioner for Environment and Ecological Management, and his team that ensured that the debris and dirt were quickly cleared is what has become a thing of communication.

This impressive response is a testament to the Ministry’s proactive approach, having cleared drainage systems in the capital weeks prior to prevent flooding.

The Ministry’s efforts in waste management, flood control and environmental assessment have remained top-notch.

Under Engr. Joseph’s leadership, the Ministry has Coordinated waste collection and disposal, Implemented measures to control flooding.

Similarly, the Ministry conduct environmental assessments, engaged in public awareness campaigns on proper waste disposal and flood prevention.

The Ministry’s collaboration with other agencies, like Acresal and those in the emergency services, has also ensured timely, as well as to be instrumental in responding to incidents.

While there’s still a need for more infrastructure to fight environmental challenges, Engr. Joseph and his team are encouraged to sustain their efforts.

It is therefore not out of place, that Kogi State residents, today commend Engr. Joseph for his selfless work in ensuring a clean and safe environment, an objectives that aligns with Gov. Usman Ahmed Ododo’s objectives for safer and clear environment.
