A political advocate from Kogi West, Pastor Stanley Ajileye, has called on stakeholders across the senatorial district to prioritise support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Senator Sunday Steve Karimi, while sustaining the region’s long-standing ambition to produce the next governor of Kogi State in 2027.

Ajileye made the call in a statement titled “Kogi West 2027: A Resolute March, A Strategic Now,” where he reaffirmed that the district’s governorship aspiration remains a collective and non-negotiable objective.

According to him, the agitation for Kogi West to occupy the governorship seat is rooted in years of advocacy, sacrifice, and shared commitment among the people, stressing that the demand goes beyond politics to reflect a deep sense of equity and inclusion.

He, however, cautioned political actors against premature manoeuvring and distractions that could weaken the district’s current political positioning, warning that elements he described as “political jobbers and merchants of distraction” may attempt to derail the broader agenda.

Ajileye emphasised that, at this critical stage, the immediate priority should be the consolidation of support for President Tinubu’s re-election bid and the continued mandate of Senator Karimi, noting that both are essential to maintaining political relevance and influence for Kogi West.

“The focus at the moment must remain clear and undivided. The Tinubu-Karimi project represents our immediate political responsibility, and it is crucial to the stability and future positioning of Kogi West,” he stated.

He further urged members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the district to remain united, stressing the importance of cohesion, loyalty, and collective action as preparations gradually build toward future elections.

While acknowledging growing political activities and alignments ahead of the 2027 governorship race, Ajileye maintained that the decision on who emerges as candidate would ultimately be determined by the people at the appropriate time.

He noted that consultations, alliance-building, and grassroots engagement have already commenced, but warned supporters not to lose sight of the immediate political objective.

“The governorship election may still be some time away, but the groundwork is ongoing. What is important now is that we do not lose focus or allow distractions to weaken our resolve,” he added.

Ajileye concluded by calling for sustained grassroots mobilisation across Kogi West, expressing confidence that with unity and strategic focus, the district would not only participate in the 2027 governorship race but emerge successful.
