2027: Abejide’s Third-Term Bid Gathers Steam as Fanwo, Mopamuro Power Bloc Meets in Abuja

ABUJA

The Kogi State Commissioner for Information and Communications, Hon. Kingsley Femi Fanwo, on Monday paid a strategic political visit to Hon Elder (Chief) Leke Joseph Abejide, member representing Yagba East/Yagba West/Mopamuro Federal Constituency, at the National Assembly in Abuja.

The high-level engagement drew prominent stakeholders and political figures from Mopamuro Local Government Area, reiterating growing grassroots backing for Abejide’s anticipated third-term bid ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Among those in attendance were respected figures such as Samuel Babatunde (Esanuaje), FCA, and Chief Babatunde Moses, alongside other key political actors from the constituency.

Sources at the meeting revealed that discussions centred on sustaining developmental strides across the constituency, as well as consolidating political support for Abejide’s continued representation at the Green Chamber.

The visit comes on the heels of a recent show of solidarity by residents of Mopamuro LGA, where a large crowd, led by the Executive Chairman, Hon. Ademola Bello, staged a “1000-man march” in endorsement of Abejide’s third-term ambition—an indication of his rising political acceptance at the grassroots.

Speaking during the visit, Fanwo commended the lawmaker for his visible contributions and commitment to constituency development, while urging him to scale up efforts if re-elected.

Political observers note that the visit, coupled with the earlier rally, appears to have weakened opposition from a small faction within Mopamuro, projecting a growing consensus in favour of Abejide’s re-election bid.

The statement was issued to the press by the Special Adviser on Public Communications to RT Hon Abejide.
