Former House of Representatives candidate, Surveyor Zacchaeus Jonathan, has resigned from the APC and joined the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Kogi State, citing the need for a new political direction.
A former House of Representatives candidate, Surveyor Zacchaeus Jonathan, has officially resigned his membership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and joined the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Kogi State.
Jonathan, who previously contested for a seat in the House of Representatives under the APC platform, announced his defection after formally submitting his resignation to his ward leadership.
In his resignation letter, he expressed appreciation to the leadership and members of the APC for the opportunities he had while in the party but explained that the decision to leave was taken after careful consideration and consultations with his political associates and supporters.
According to him, his move to the ADC is driven by the desire to pursue a new political direction and contribute more effectively to the democratic process and development of his constituency.
Jonathan stated that while he values the relationships he built during his time in the APC, he believes the ADC platform will provide a more suitable environment to advance his political aspirations and serve the people more effectively.
The former aspirant also called on his supporters and political associates to remain peaceful and focused as he begins a new phase of his political journey.
Party supporters and political observers within the state have described the development as another sign of the shifting political alignments ahead of the next electoral cycle in Kogi State.
Jonathan assured that his decision was not borne out of hostility but rather a commitment to strengthening democratic participation and expanding political choices for the people.
He also pledged to work with leaders and members of the ADC to build a stronger party structure capable of delivering meaningful representation and development to the people.
The defection adds to the growing political realignments in Kogi State as politicians continue to position themselves ahead of future elections.
