Ogori Descendants Union Unveils Full Schedule for 2026 Ovia Osese Festival: “Living the Legacy”

The Festivals and Events Sub-Committee of the Ogori Descendants Union has officially released the schedule of activities for the 2026 edition of the annual Ovia Osese Festival, themed “LIVING THE LEGACY: A Rich Celebration of Tradition and Identity.”

According to the committee, the week-long festival will commence with Praise Night on Sunday, April 12th, and culminate with Thanksgiving Services on Sunday, April 19th. The festival aims to showcase Ogori cultural heritage while fostering community engagement, youth participation, and the promotion of local traditions.

Highlights of the Festival Schedule

  • Sunday, April 12, 2026: Praise Night at 7 pm
  • Monday, April 13: Morning community cleaning (OSA); afternoon board games at 3 pm; Road Show (OSA) at 4:30 pm and local games at 5 pm
  • Tuesday, April 14: Senior Citizen Jogging at 6 am; quiz and debates at 8:30 am; volleyball finals at 3:30 pm
  • Wednesday, April 15: Marathon at 6 am; cooking competition at 3 pm; Oko language competition at 4 pm; entertainment night at 5 pm
  • Thursday, April 16: Talk show “Time With Ivia” at 10 am; football finals at 4 pm; Eregba Night at 8 pm
  • Friday, April 17: Carnival at 6 am; Mrs. Aiso’s Medical Outreach for Girls at 3:30 pm; Miss Ogori pageant at 5 pm
  • Saturday, April 18: Grand Finale at 10 am
  • Sunday, April 19: Thanksgiving services at various churches across the community

The committee urged all participants, residents, and visitors traveling from across the country and beyond to observe safety guidelines, emphasizing the festival as an opportunity for cultural unity, youth empowerment, and the preservation of Ogori traditions.
