APC Chieftain Ibrahim Backs Aro, Urges Karimi to Accept Court Ruling and Shun Anti-Party Activities

A prominent All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain in Lokoja, Alhaji Mohammed Ibrahim, has declared his support for Hon. Sam Bamidele Aro following the reported Federal High Court judgment affirming Aro as the party’s candidate for the Kogi West Senatorial District election, while urging Senator Sunday Karimi to accept the court’s decision in the interest of party unity

Ibrahim, who disclosed that he was previously a supporter of Senator Karimi, said the interest of the APC should take precedence over individual political ambitions, stressing the need for party members to rally behind the candidate recognised by the court.

The APC chieftain maintained that the judgment had brought clarity to the dispute surrounding the party’s senatorial primary, which had generated political tension following efforts to transfer the case from the Federal High Court in Lokoja to its Abuja division.

Declaring his allegiance to Aro, Ibrahim said his decision was informed by his belief that loyalty to the party and respect for its democratic and legal processes must remain paramount.

“I am one of his supporters, but it is obvious that the party’s interest is supreme to that of any individual. My loyalty henceforth is with Sam Aro, the next senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria,” he stated.

Ibrahim also dismissed suggestions that the APC could not secure victory in Kogi West without Karimi’s participation, distancing himself from reported political engagements with the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in the district.

He called on the incumbent senator to demonstrate party loyalty by supporting Aro and other APC candidates across all levels, from the presidential election to the State House of Assembly.

The Lokoja-based party stalwart further appealed to Karimi’s supporters to reconsider their position and work towards strengthening the APC ahead of the forthcoming electoral contest.

Describing Aro as a credible political figure, Ibrahim expressed confidence in his capacity to represent the district, urging him to commence consultations and preparations for the task ahead.

He also assured the APC candidate of the readiness of his supporters and associates to work with him, emphasising that unity and collective commitment would be important in the party’s efforts to move forward.

Ibrahim’s declaration adds another dimension to the ongoing political realignments within the APC in Kogi West, as party stakeholders continue to respond to the dispute over the senatorial ticket.
