Kogi Information Commissioner Kingsley Fanwo has urged residents to embrace peace and unity as Kogi East hosted a grand reception for Deputy Governor Joel Salifu Oyinbo in Ejule.

EJULE, KOGI STATE — The Kogi State Commissioner for Information and Communications, Kingsley Femi Fanwo, has called on residents of the state to promote peace, unity, and tolerance across ethnic, religious, and political lines.

Fanwo made the appeal during a grand reception organized in Ejule in honour of the Deputy Governor of Kogi State, Comrade Joel Salifu Oyinbo.

Addressing guests at the event, the commissioner urged Kogites to avoid actions capable of creating division, stressing that peaceful coexistence remains essential for the growth and stability of the state.

He described the Deputy Governor as a loyal and committed public servant who has continued to demonstrate humility, competence, and dedication in office.

Fanwo also noted that Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo maintains a strong working relationship with Oyinbo, adding that the governor has continued to repose confidence in his deputy’s capacity to support the administration’s developmental agenda.

“The unity of the state must remain our collective priority. Regardless of political, ethnic, or religious affiliations, we must continue to work together for the peace and progress of Kogi State,” Fanwo stated.

In his remarks, Deputy Governor Joel Salifu Oyinbo expressed appreciation to Governor Ododo and former Governor Yahaya Bello for the opportunity to serve the state.

He reaffirmed his commitment to supporting the present administration in delivering people-oriented governance and sustaining developmental projects across the state.

Oyinbo assured residents of Ofu Local Government Area and Kogi State generally of his continued dedication, humility, and loyalty in public service.

He said the Ododo administration had continued to expand development projects across communities, with deliberate efforts to bring governance closer to the grassroots.

The Deputy Governor also urged young people to reject violence and criminal activities, encouraging them instead to embrace peace, education, and hard work.

Speaking at the event, the Eje Ofu and Chairman of the Ofu Local Government Traditional Council, Alhaji Akwu Obaje, commended Governor Ododo for ongoing infrastructural and developmental projects across the state.

The royal father thanked the governor for appointing Comrade Oyinbo as Deputy Governor and praised the administration for its support and recognition of traditional institutions.

He assured the state government of the continued cooperation of traditional rulers in maintaining peace and promoting development at the community level.

Also speaking, the Chairman of Ofu Local Government Area, Muhammad Lawal, reiterated the support of the people for the Ododo administration, describing the government’s developmental efforts as impactful.

A major highlight of the reception was the defection of several members of opposition political parties, including the Social Democratic Party (SDP) and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), into the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ofu Local Government Area.

Political stakeholders at the event said the movement further strengthened the APC’s structure in Kogi East ahead of future political engagements.
