A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Hon. Durosinmi Meseko, has called on communities to preserve their cultural heritage while embracing collective efforts toward development, as he delivered a keynote address at the 2026 Odo-Ape Cultural Day celebration.

Meseko, who serves as the Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the APC, described the annual festival as a defining moment in the life of the Odo-Ape community, noting that it reflects the people’s enduring values, resilience, and shared identity.

Addressing a large gathering of community members, traditional leaders, and guests, he emphasized the need for unity, hard work, and mutual respect as pillars for sustainable growth. He urged indigenes at home and in the diaspora to contribute meaningfully to the development of their community through collaboration and resource mobilization.

According to him, cultural festivals such as Odo-Ape Cultural Day serve not only as a celebration of heritage but also as a platform to inspire collective responsibility and forward-thinking initiatives.

He encouraged parents and community leaders to equip younger generations with the skills and knowledge required to thrive in a rapidly changing world, stressing the importance of education and innovation.

Meseko further appealed to sons and daughters of Odo-Ape to act as ambassadors of peace and unity, urging them to support one another and promote harmony within the community.

He commended the organisers of the festival, as well as traditional institutions, for sustaining the community’s cultural legacy and fostering a sense of belonging among the people.

The colourful event featured displays of traditional music, dance, and attire, highlighting the rich cultural heritage of the Odo-Ape people.

Speaking with journalists on the sidelines of the event, Meseko also weighed in on national issues, expressing confidence in the leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. He said ongoing economic reforms by the administration are beginning to yield measurable results, as reflected in improving economic indicators.

He noted that the reforms have continued to attract influential political figures to the APC, reinforcing the party’s position at the national level.

The APC spokesman also commended Kogi State Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo for what he described as purposeful and people-oriented leadership, adding that the governor’s commitment to the development of the state is evident.

Meseko called on citizens to sustain their support for both the federal and state governments, stressing that collaboration between leaders and the people remains critical to achieving long-term progress.

The event concluded with renewed calls for unity and a shared commitment to advancing the development of Odo-Ape and its people.
