2027: Mopamuro APC Leaders Endorse Leke Abejide, Adopt Him as Consensus Candidate
APC leaders in Mopamuro LGA have endorsed Rep. Leke Abejide for re-election in 2027, adopting him as consensus candidate amid growing political support in Kogi West.
LOKOJA — Leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Mopamuro Local Government Area of Kogi State have unanimously endorsed the member representing Yagba Federal Constituency, , for re-election in 2027, formally adopting him as the party’s consensus candidate in the area.
The decision was reached during a nomination form endorsement ceremony attended by party leaders and stakeholders from across Mopamuro, signaling a unified front ahead of the next general elections.
The gathering attracted key figures within the party, including the Kogi State Commissioner for Information and Communications, ; the Chairman of Mopamuro Local Government Area, ; the member representing Mopamuro Constituency in the State House of Assembly, ; and the APC Chairman in the local government, , among others.
Speaking on behalf of the party leaders, Fanwo said the endorsement was based on Abejide’s performance and sustained commitment to the development of Yagba Federal Constituency. He noted that the lawmaker’s position as a ranking member of the House of Representatives enhances his capacity to attract projects and federal presence to the constituency.
“Rt. Hon. Leke Abejide has shown competence, capacity, and a deep commitment to the welfare of the people. His representation has been impactful, and another mandate will help consolidate the progress already recorded,” Fanwo stated.
He highlighted several interventions credited to the lawmaker, including sponsorship of WAEC and NECO registration for students, empowerment programmes for women, artisans, and farmers, as well as infrastructural projects across Yagba land.
Fanwo added that the unanimous adoption reflects cohesion within the APC structure in Mopamuro and a shared determination to sustain effective representation.
Also speaking, the Executive Chairman of Mopamuro LGA, Ademola Bello, described the endorsement as a reflection of the collective will of the people, noting that the unity displayed by party stakeholders signals a new phase of political alignment in the area.
“This development represents a new beginning for our people. The consensus around Rt. Hon. Leke Abejide demonstrates our resolve to move forward together,” he said.
Political observers view the endorsement as a significant boost to Abejide’s re-election prospects, as support continues to build across Yagba Federal Constituency ahead of the 2027 polls.
